Wilson High Attended 1996 to 1998 Long Beach, California United States
When I Started:
Oct, 2001
How I Started:
HeartBreak. I started by walking in my neighborhood. Then I started hitting the gym. As I started seeing better results, I started getting more and more dedicated. Eventually I became a gym rat working out 2hrs before work and 2-4hrs after work. Sure I had my "fall off the wagon" moments here and there but I always came back harder and stronger than before. That is until I had my daughter. Her first year, I didn't workout at all because I felt that she was at daycare 12hrs a day (because as a single mom, I still had to work) and the rest of the time should be spent with her mom. Right before she turned two I decided it was time to do more for me- so I got a gym membership at my local LA Fitness. Hit with the realization that "my dramatic changes" that I was used to accomplishing in the past within a given amount of time was no longer feasible, I felt defeated. I continued to go, more so as a mood pick me up (because I do feel better when I work out). However, my eating habits remained the same. My daughter turns three next month! No more excuses. I am older now, I know that they weight will not fall off as it used too. I am ready to take accountability for my eating habits and make the time I need for me and my health.
Why I Love It:
I love feeling like I did something, something I can feel immediately, the next day and the day after. I love seeing the changes in the mirror. I love knowing that I am doing something that 60 percent or more of the people I know don't do. I love saying I went to the gym last night after someone tells me about how they spent their night watching TV. I love knowing that I am doing something for me and setting an example for my daughter.
How I Stay Motivated:
Even after I have worked all day, taken my daughter to gymnastics and yeah it's 7pm - that every night when I drag my daughter to the gym, I am instilling in my her that fitness is not an option- it is just something you do and you do everyday- like getting your education.

Learn about total body health and transform my body for the rest of my life.
Goal (Long):
First, I will lose 50lbs. My Ideal weight would be between 155-170. I want to learn how the body works, what muscles need, overall long-term health and finally learn what information is BS and what is legit. I want to be able to help other people. If I had my way, My long-term goal would be to be able to pursue my new dream of becoming a fitness model and personal trainer. If I can do that and say I was able to do this as a single mother coming from where I am now knowing what genetics I am battling- I know that I have a major impact in helping others. Starting with my mother.
Apparently, my leg workout on Monday was GREAT!...because I can barely walk today. I took of yesterday- from everything! Not my intention but that's the way it played out. I went to a luncheon for a friend and that was followed by cake =(. To exhausted from going and going found myself...
