I started weight lifting when I was 14 after I saw Terminator II with a ripped Linda Hamilton, and of course Arnold. I fell in love with bodybuilding instantly. A year later I discovered a passion for boxing. But I soon learned females were excluded from amateur competition, so with the help of the ACLU we filed a discrimination and forced them to set up a women's division. The historic match took place in October 1993, I won the match by unanimous decision. Later I returned to my original love and started training for competitive bodybuilding in 2004.
Why I Love It:
The challenge, the look, the feel, the pain, the exhileration. It toughens and strengthens me mentally and physically.
How I Stay Motivated:
Focusing on the next show, planning it out, that appeals to my compulsive organized nature. And just not letting myself plateau, keeping my workouts interesting so I stay hungry for it.
BB Accomplishments:
My first show last June because I had to overcome so much to get there. Prepping for a show is extremely tough under the best of circumstances, but I had so many obstacles and major life changes happening but I still did it, and I was happy with how my physique came out.
