Contest History

Contest: Emmett
Date: Aug 08, 2009
Location: Idaho, United States
Level: Amateur
Type: Other
Bodyweight: 173 lb (78.6 kg)
Place: 9
Comments: This is such a fun course. They changed the swim a bit though, which made it longer, and hurt my overall time vs. last year. Also, massive cramp on the bike that led me to actually stop for several minutes, and that cost me a podium finish. That also cost me the lead bike split in my division, but I was still only 30 seconds off even with that delay from having the fastest overall bike time. Overall still a really enjoyable day as I'm reminded that the reason why I'm out there is to challenge myself, not impress anybody else with my times.

Contest: Deschutes Olympic Triathlon
Date: Jul 18, 2009
Location: Oregon, United States
Level: Amateur
Type: Other
Bodyweight: 170 lb (77.3 kg)
Place: 15
Comments: 22 minute PR for the 1500 meter swim, then the most difficult course I've ever seen. 25 miles STRAIGHT UP Mt. Bachelor with 6,000 ft. vertical. Totally wasted my legs. Hot 10K run to finish up in 15th place. That was easily the hardest 15th place I've ever earned! Good thing this was a "D" race because I didn't stand a chance! Congrats to my team mates, two of whom took first in their divisions and earned slots at Nationals again. Congrats to the other 13 members of team Performance High who SURVIVED the day, and thanks to Deschutes Brewery for providing the post race carb replenishment.

Level: Amateur

Bodyweight: 170 lb (77.3 kg)
Place: 10
Comments: Just a 50 mile fundraiser race/casual ride. I have no idea how I placed since they weren't chipping us, but I definitely got a top %10 finish. Good times! 3:04:13 by my own watch though, which isn't too bad for a 52 mile casual ride. Especially considering that wicked head wind.

Comments: I'm extremely happy with my time and placing... I beat my goal to finish this 400 meter swim, 6 mile bike, 2 mile run race in under 55 minutes. And I put up a sweet bike split time, averaging 20.68 MPH on the bike, which is approaching the average speed a pro puts up. New PR!
