Background

When I Started: Sep 2007
HOW I STARTED:

I spent my whole childhood and adolescent years very overweight and sedentary. One day I just was tired of living feeling so miserable about myself and decided to use the highschool weight room. I started with just cardio, then began making dietary changes, and finally feel in love with resistance training. I became obsessed and knew it was something I could no longer live without. It changed my life in multiple dimensions. After about 4 years of slow, healthy weight loss I had lost 90 lbs but was left with a skinny, shapeless, frame. It was a hard mental switch but I knew i would never look like my ideal image of a strong woman unless I began eating and training to grow. I put on about 25 lbs solid pounds of lean mass NATURALLY throughout my 4 years of college. I have competed in strength and physique events but enjoy competing with myself more than anything. My long term goal has shifted significantly over the years. I no longer strive to be 6 percent bodyfat and a "sex icon." I want to be healthy ( inside and out ), fit in ALL aspects, a strong minded role model for others, injury free and STRONG AS ****. I have experience in body building training and power lifting but each year I realize more and more the importance of functional training on overall performance and injury prevention. I love anything new and challenging!!! The more training styles I can be exposed to, the better!!

WHY I LOVE IT:

Ive never discovered anything else that makes me feel as empowered as bodybuilding/fitness. Its a challenge everyday and I thrive on that!

RaptormkII Don't get discouraged, think of it as a challenge! Bodyweight exercises can work well in a pinch, and if you have or can get an Iron Gym that opens up: wide, neutral, and close grip pull ups, hanging leg raises, piked pull ups, full ROM wide, neutral, and close grip push ups (and you can elevate your feet on a chair for more variety). Add to that crunches, squats, lunges... You can get your work in. May 23, 2012 7:42am

I just wanted to send you a lil reminder that life is good its just a matter of focusing on it sometimes =) I got the flu recently and for whatever reason my chest got really congested and heavy feeling towards the end of it.
