Background

When I Started: Jan 2007
HOW I STARTED:

In 2007 I got serious about diet and exercise and lost 35lbs, I also dropped my body fat from 29% to 23%. I lost ground in 2008 recovering from a hip replacement.

WHY I LOVE IT:

My time in the gym is magic, time to think, sweat, clear your head, and change your body.

My key motivation is to be healthier and more active. I have a young family and I have spent too much time on the sidelines with sore a hip in the past. I am ready to run and play once the new hip heals up.

I want to look like that guy, Movie

I just watched just watched the movie"I want to look like that guy".  Great window into what it really takes to look like that guy.  And is shows that any guy, who works hard enough, can look almost like that guy.  This movie has been a big inspiration to me, I have a new goal of 10% body fat by late summer.  I have a much better idea of how to get there now. 

Preparing for the Axiom 12 Week Body Challenge

I returned to the gym in late November after thanksgiving, slowly building my strength, over time and working up to daily cardio this last week.  Today was my 7th day of straight daily cardio, a first for me.  I am also 5 weeks into a food log on Livestrong.com.  I have been building a foundation, getting stronger, mentally and physically, for the body challenge.  I have kept a pretty clean diet and have lost albs in the past 5 weeks.  The challenge begins on Saturday with weight in and measurements, I certainly have a good before picture.

For the first time, I have been able to lose weight for 4 days straight.  In the past 14 days I have lost on average .44lbs a day. I have never been able to do this in the past.  But I am doing much more cardio, with a good now hip, and my diet is much more consistent. I am also much more disciplined.  


When I have tried to lose weight in the past, my weight bounced up and down coming down on average but very slow.  My last successful weight loss cycle in 2007, i lost .5lbs on average per week for a year.  It did add up to losing 30lbs, but painfully sl

conkrot I was guessing a body fat of 35%, a friend loaned me a real body fat measuring device, it said 31.6. I get measured by Axiom on 1/7/12 so I should have another update this weekend. Jan 4, 2012 11:09am

conkrot I lost weight for four days straight, I have never been able to do this before, it's always a yo yo up and down. I think I might have dialed in the diet and the workout to work for me. the next several months will show. Dec 14, 2011 2:08pm
