I grew up as the chubby yet witty kid. Ton of friends and too cool for sports. After high school I went into the US Marines. While serving in the Marines (1999), I needed to get stronger for my PFT. After lifting for 6 months, my dead hang pull-ups went from 7 to 26. After that, I was hooked. Since leaving the Corps (2004), I have not only put back on my high school chubb. With school work and married life w/ kids I added 70lbs. I never stopped lifting, but I did stop dieting. So now my goal is to get back down to 225lbs and muscular.
Why I Love It:
The aspect of bettering one's self has always driven me. Every since I felt the pains from over training, since being stronger than my buds, since seeing Kevin Levrone in FLEX Magazine with the title of HE-Man above his head and him mirroring the image of my childhood hero. I love it because it keeps me balanced.
How I Stay Motivated:
Knowing where I want to go and be. Knowing failure is not a option. Knowing that sooner or later I will have to put up or shut up.
BB Accomplishments:
Being able to play with & lift my son above my head for hours.

Is about done with my vacation and in the words of Melly Mel, Im about to "Bust ya ass" when I return. 60lbs in 7 months..........
Goal (Long):
I use to be heavy into bodybuilding until I got out of the Marines and my life style changed. I was taking 21 college credits and working 10 hour shift all while planning a wedding my pregnant girlfriend. I blew up from 245 13% bf to currently 335 36% bf. My goal is get back down to a solid 225/ 235 with 10% bf.
Okay. I am starting this blog to discuss my steps for losing 60lbs in 6 months, which comes out to 10lbs a month and 2.5 pounds a week. My starting weight is 310lbs. My plan is pretty simple, high protein, low carbs and moderate fat. See below:

heh heh so true. my son was born at st. Luke's hospital in Milwaukee (or West Allis, not sure.) Happens to be where my great-aunt Geneva lived. but she died in about 1970-75 so its doubtful you met her. I only recall seeing her once or twice. But I do love that name 'Geneva.'
Thanks for the comment, I wish you and your son the best. He will do great things and the chair won't stop him. He needs his dad's support if he goes through rough times.
Hey bro, Would love to help you out! What times do you come into the gym? We can sit down and chat at the gym. Feel free to email me at toplinetraining@hotmail.com

yeah thats the only diffence i see is that I had alot of time to stay in the gym. But even i you really didnt you could just save time by buying a set of dumbbells and doing part of your workout at home (curls, tricep ext, flys, etc.)
thats honestly cleaner than I was eating starting out so your def on the right track. I dropped about 8 lbs a month but I was doing around 30-45 mins of eliptical daily.
for the first few months it was pretty clean. Then once I got under about 245 I just tried to make sure I stayed under my maintence calories because eating chicken breats and tuna every day got real old. Eating clean at the beginning will help speed things up though. And lots of cardio.
