When I Started:
How I Started:
I started lifting when I was about 12 years old because I was inspired by Bodybuilders like Charles Atlas in the back of comic books.
All my life I wanted to have a 'Super-Hero' type physique. As I got into my later teens I was inspired by the classics; Schwarzenegger, Weider, Michalik, Katz, Columbu & Zane - to name a few.
In my early 20's I got more serious and purchased a home gym working out regularly and reading every piece of bodybuilding information I could get my hands on. It wasn't until my late 20's that I joined a 'real' gym. That was when my gains really started to grow.
At 29 I was a 6'1, 167# rail. I began shadowing the 'big guys' at the gym. Watching their routines and listening to their conversations with each other. I asked questions of them (routines, meals, supplements, etc.) and I went from about 180# to 210# in about a year.
I was on my way. Peaking my training at 235# at age 40. Then it hit. I suffered from severe sleep apnea due to an extended short palet & tonsils. I had to have them removed. I was down and out of training for some 6 months.
Combined with several moves across country and job requirements, non-motivation, etc. I never seemed to get back to my regular routine. I'd lost it all.
Starting back was tough, extensive and frustrating.
I'm back at it now and on my way to regain what was/is rightfully mine.
