When I Started:
Mar, 2009
How I Started:
I started reading different magazines and watched some DVDs and Fit TV to see how people do it and decided to just go for it.
Why I Love It:
I feel so good after a workout. It sounds corny but it does build confidence.
How I Stay Motivated:
I read encouraging magazines such as Oxygen, Fitness Rx, and Clean Eating. Also, the results I see and feel keep me going back for more.
BB Accomplishments:
1) Dropping below 300 lbs. 9/27/09 for the first time since I got married eight years ago.
2) Running a 20 minute mile for the first time in my life on 11/23/09.
3) I ran on the treadmill for two minutes straight for the firt time in my life on 11/23/09.
I wasn't going to post these because they are so gross. But, because I am already seeing changes in my body, I feel comfortable seeing where I am and making it to where I want to be.
My goal is a complete overhaul inside and out. I want to build muscle, lose fat, and improve my vitals (blood pressure, cholesterol, etc).
Goal (Long):
I think the last time in my life that I was a "normal" size was when I was six. I want to build muscle and lose fat in a major way. My mom lost over 100 lbs but she did absolutely no exercise and now she has little muscle and lots and lots of loose skin just hanging. She is just a smaller version of her larger self. I don't want to look like that because I know I have more than 100 lbs to lose as well.
Every time I set a goal time I never make it. So I'll focus on smaller weekly goals such as eating clean day to day and getting my cardio and weights in regularly (at least I can get into the rhythm of a routine).
I have tried to get healthy time and time again and have not been successful. I see that one reason is that I have not been pushing through my goals. For example, my first personal goal since starting on bb.com was to lose 25 lbs. I reached that...
I have decided to try cardio first thing when I wake up on an empty stomach. In the past, I have gotten up to fix a good pre-workout meal and end up doing other things and never getting any exercise in. Working out on a full stomach makes me feel so sick.
That is okay, get back on the horse and get going! We are going to win this battle of weight loss, this year. Next year this time, we will be at our goal weight. Thanking the Lord for how we came thought it all. Are you with me?
keep it up I see the changes. you may not becauseyou see yourself everyday.I try not to look at myself without my shirt, only a couple times a week i will "nic pic". stay focus it wil happen, trust me its a marathoon not a race, peace!
& Continued (stupid 500 chars max!)...
Yes, I think weights are helpful in minimizing the appearance of loose skin. By focusing on body composition rather than pure scale weight I ensured I didn't lose valuable lean muscle mass during my fast paced weight loss. I'm sure I'd look entirely different, worse for the wear without those dumbbells.

I wouldn't sweat it. I think it has more to do with genetics than anything, no predicting the future.
Don't let anything worry you. I PROMISE the results are worth it and that whatever loose skin you may end up with is concealable.
Some, a bit in the ab area. No worse than some post-baby abs I've seen. Doesn't effect my life, my clothing size or my confidence at all. I get a ton of comments from people incredulous I ever weighed 300# - because it's not at all apparent.
The little loose skin I have is NOTHING compared to the extra weight I once carried. The saggy stomach is my secret, the obesity was public.
Thank you so much for your words of encouragement! I went through a valley experience, but now I am back on the mountain top and will continue to press toward the prize!
