When I Started:
How I Started:
I come from a superficial family, there is no denying this. My mother put me in a diet center when I was in 7th grade and monitored my every move. Throughout high school, I let my weight determine my happiness and spent too much time focusing on the negative, rather then the positive. Eventually, when I was 18, (during a miserable first year of college) I developed a severe eating disorder. When I started my sophomore year of college I was so sick that I was unable to fulfill my scholarship playing tennis. It was that same fall that forced by my mother (ironically enough) I entered outpatient treatment. Over the course of the next year, I slowly gained back 50 pounds.
Losing and then gaining this much weight, with a completely shot metabolism, equaled a higher percentage of fat vs. lean muscle. I've spent the past two years lifting weights as a way to regain the metabolism I once had. Physically, my body is slowly changing, but mentally/emotionally, I feel like I've made tremendous progress-- which is what is most important right now.
Why I Love It:
Working out is my natural prozac alternative.
How I Stay Motivated:
Looking back at what working out has done for my life and emotional well being is the best motivation ever.

You can't control the wind, but you can adjust your sails.
Yesterday I posted blog about my frustration with my current (or lack their of) results. I couldn't understand how after three weeks of daily cardio (45-70 mins) and weights four times a week, I could gain three pounds and increase size in my thighs. However, after too many hours of forum...
Please believe me when I say that it is my absolute pleasure to not only visit your bodyspace and see how well you are doing but to leave you little (hopefully) motivational messages. My wife and I have dedicated our lives to helping people embrace fitness and it does our hearts good when we see people such as you working to achieve your fitness goals.
I see that you are continuing to make progress and for that I congratulate you. It is not easy to stay strong, focused and determined with all the temptations and distractions around us each and every day. You are doing great and I look forward to watching you progress. Remember: "The ability to discipline yourself to delay gratification in the short term, in order to enjoy greater rewards in the long term, is the indispensable prerequisite for success."
I like the animal packs. I find that they are more convent than buying different bottles of the same stuff that’s already in the pack, and it’s in a little pack so I can just grab one and go to work. The only down side is that the pills get hard to swallow at times, but I manage. Good luck on your goals.
