When I Started:
How I Started:
I started working out about 10 years ago to lose weight. Cardio was my main focus... fitness classes, jogging, basketball, tennis, etc. Lately, I've been concentrating more on weight training, and my new goals involve overall toning and improving my race performance. I run 3-4 times/week, but instead of taking cardio classes, I now infuse rope jumping into my circuit training and limit rest time between exercises/sets. I concentrate on form while moving quickly to get the job done!
Why I Love It:
Working out is a great stress reliever for me... especially since I work with kids! When I start my day out at the gym I seem to have more confidence and carry a smile with me throughout the day!
How I Stay Motivated:
I work with trainer Terry Stokes at least once a week to help keep me focused. Terry trains fitness competitors and regularly holds group workouts. Working out with competitive athletes is great incentive to keep me moving!
Lifting weights is addicting! It's easier to stay motivated when you start seeing results. The hardest part for me is taking a rest day.

I'm a teacher and for the first year ever, decided not to get a part-time job for the summer. I decided to step up my fitness goals and focus on being more active. I am calling this "Summer of Intensity 2" to motivate myself! Basically, I decided to ride my bike almost everywhere...
Thanks! Hows your program going? Seems challenging! good for you! Im trying to ride my bike more as well, esp to and from work as its only 6m each way but roads in cheektowaga are very scary!
Did you take the path all the way? Sounds like a great ride. I ride around Grand Island, that's about 26. I'm not much of a runner, no races , just the occasional go out and jog thing. I work with a few people who are avid runners though.
