I used to compete in my early twenties, then quit lifting by 28 as I moved and started a career and family.
Why I Love It:
Not loving it a lot right now...just the long dull road that gets me where I need to be...
On the other hand I would go nuts if I didn't have it to counterbalance the other sedentary stresses in my life!
How I Stay Motivated:
New goal...GOTTA get to where I can do sets of wide grip pull ups! working hard to and it is eluding me. But at any weight I think it says you can handle the weight you are.

Thanks for the tips. I don't change my grip and that lack of variation could very well be my problem. It's been a cycle--I increase my weight, do great for a while, my elbow hurts, I have to stop. So, I'll give it a try and let you know how it goes.
what are you taking in school. Thats great to excercise i hope to keep it up thats where i put on some weight and am not planning on putting it back on. Would love to see a photo.
Thanks for the comment! And being brave to post my pics, well I got used to it really fast when i relized it helped me mentally so much. Not to mention the motivation.
Looks like you're making some steady progress... just stick with it and you'll see results. Rome was'nt built in a day... and neither is your body. Good luck, Bert
Hey, thx for the encouragement! As for yourself, just STAY patient. It looks like you know what you are doing, so keep it up and don't let frusturation make you impatient! Konsistency is key!
haha! i was about ready to give you the smackdown when i read the beard comment before i saw you reference it to ronny :) thanks for the comment, the arm experience was awesome, never happened before as it just got warm and i just got good arms!! how are you doing? well i hope!!
hmm..oatmeal..well, you could always eat it dry, that's what i do sometimes when i don't have time or the place to cook it. most people don't like that idea though :) that's cool about the student body makeup, and your dinner sounded pretty good!!! *sigh* (i LOVE pizza!!)
So this is the article that got me started on the glycemic index. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fu n/weik51.htm
There's a link in the middle of the article to the glycemic index. They are both amazing. I hope this helps! Good luck!
I've found that the bigger the breakfast the better off I am throughout the day, and you can eat the worst foods at breakfast, like breads and such. I love to munch on Kashi throughout the day. I like the GoLean crunch as well as toasted honey heart healthy kashi. I'll find the site that had a whole list of foods and send it to you soon. Good luck!!!
