I actually got started 8 years ago in the Air Force, but slacked off for the past few years... Culinary school and product "quality control" were going straight to my hips and belly. I decided I need to take charge of my body and quit indulging in my creations...
Why I Love It:
I love the feeling of accomplishment and looking good. I also like being kind of sore the following day, which most people don't, it seems.
How I Stay Motivated:
I think about people I know (real people, not celebrities) that are in great shape and look amazing. I think about how I feel when I'm out of shape and hanging out with them. I think about the self-confidence it builds to be fit. Not gonna lie... I like the attention.
BB Accomplishments:
I can't say that I have many accomplishments yet, other than I have a much higher self-esteem, and I actually enjoy coming to the gym on a regular basis. I also fit back into my pre-culinary school clothes! And I know a lot more about health and fitness because I have been researching it. So... Maybe I do have a few accomplishments already.

I want to turn heads wherever I go. I want people to look up to me and ask me for advice on fitness. Maybe someday I could give fitness modeling a shot. Since getting out of the Air Force, I have gotten soft. I am lucky to be somewhat naturally fit, even when I eat like crap and don't work out, but I want to be conditioned. I want to be tight and cut, but not large. I don't just WANT to be. I WILL be.
What happened in Vegas certainly didn't stay there... It came back in my belly! Seriously though, we partied hard and I don't feel bad about it. I had been hardcore dieting for 3 weeks before this, and saw good results (6 non-fluctuating lbs!). Even after this weekend of drinking, gambling,...
Oh, that's great !!! I'm glad you found some answers. It's all about putting the effort out there, reading tons, listening, learning, and a lot of trial and error, hehehe. We all make mistakes and that's good as long as we learn from them. I am always around for help you ever need ;) Keep up your fire for it and I'm with you on the cupcakes, damn those things are good ;)
Great to hear. Body for Life uses what I like to refer as the “Holy Trinity of Fitness,” which is a great nutrition plan along with weightlifting and cardio programs. Eating 5 to 6 hi protein, low hi glycemic and la bad fat meals per day really works at revving up your metabolism. Lifting progressively heavier weights and doing high intensity cardio will not only see you lower bodyfat but also shape-shift your body.
If you would like to achieve your fitness goals possibly sooner than you thought I recommend you look into the 12 week Body for Life program. My wife (bodyspace: judimax) went from a size 12/14 to a 4/6 and I lost over 50 Lbs going from 36 to 10% bodyfat in just 12 weeks with the BFL program. You will need to challenge yourself to achieve great results but I believe they will be well worth the effort. Let us know if you would like more info.
Hey Candice; Thanks for your dedicated and courageous service for our country in the Air Force. I'm also a veteran (Navy). Looks like your keeping away from the cupcakes. Good luck with your workouts. Best regards, Scott
