When I Started:
Jun, 2005
How I Started:
I had just returned from visiting my family in WV and it was the most horrible weekend of my life. My parents decided that they wanted us all to go for a walk in the hills behind their house. My overweight, out of shape frame could not keep up with my parents or even my 82 year old grandmother. I knew I had to do something.
Why I Love It:
I'll be honest. I don't love it. I don't even really like it. But it's a necessary thing for me at this point in life. Hopefully one day I will learn to like it and maybe even love it. At that point, I can respond with why I love it. But until then...
How I Stay Motivated:
I have lots of pictures of myself. The way I used to look, the way I look now. I'm not even trying to set lofty goals yet. I just want to get back to some semblance of what I used to be like.
First goal will be to lose 10% of my current weight, which will take me from my current 242 down to about 218.
Goal (Long):
Currently, I weigh 242 pounds, 41% bodyfat, and size 20W pants.
What I want is to weigh somewhere in the vicinity of 165 pounds, less than 30% bodyfat, and size 10 pants.
Now anything better than that is bonus, but that's where I was while I was in the Navy and I would love to get back to that shape.
Weight Goal:
I want to LOSE 75 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
30%

You just took a major step, leaving denial behind and realizing you want to do something about your health and lifestyle.
Step 2, actually doing something, anything.
Step 3 is to really analyze how you eat and exercise. Once you nail down eating smaller meals more often than 3x a day and exercise, you'll notice dramatic results in a few months. From that point on it will completely be addictive to you.
