How I Started:
My mom had a stroke in 2002 resulting from high blood pressure, diabetes, and being overweight and out of shape. Spending two weeks with her in the hospital and seeing the change in her afterwards was a wake up call that I needed to take better care of myself, too. I joined a gym and started taking classes and doing some weightlifting. Saw some good changes in my body but basically have just maintained at a healthy level for the last several years. My husband and I both decided to "kick it up a notch" and began the 12 week Body for Life Challenge on January 6.
Why I Love It:
Endorphines! And seeing and feeling my body change for the better.
How I Stay Motivated:
I started an online support group with some friends for the 12 week challenge. It's also inspiring to see the women on here who have transformed their bodies and continue to improve them when I already think they look great. Being a perfectionist, I have already gotten discouraged a couple of times, but my husband is always full steam ahead and is stubborn as a mule, so he is a big motivator for me!
BB Accomplishments:
Went to the gym 6 days last week! haha

Soooo embarassing...right after a couple months of holiday eating and drinking. Ugh!
This week I want to eat "clean" and ROCK all my scheduled workouts.
Goal (Long):
I want to gain of lean muscle and turn into a fat-burning machine. I want to lose 27 pounds of body fat and trim 5 inches from my waist so I'll look great in a bikini! No more backfat! Also want to lean out my arms so they look even better in sleeveless shirts. And I want to do all this in a mere 12 weeks! Body for Life says I can!
Thank you for your very kind compliments. To have you say that my wife and I are an inspiration is high praise indeed coming from you and we are honored to receive that tribute. We are dedicating our lives to helping people embrace fitness and hopefully take ownership for their own future health. My personal goal is to try and lead the way in eradicating the epidemic of obesity that is crippling our population. I hope to recruit as many people as I can so that together we can make a difference.
You absolutely rock! I would like to congratulate you & your husband on all of your hard work and what you have accomplished to this point. Continue to push yourself during your Body for Life Challenge #2 and I am sure you will reap even more rewards. My wife (bodyspace: judimax) and I got our body transformations following BFL and the hard work was well worth the effort. I wish you all the best and look forward to watching your continuing progression.
Good luck with the body for life thing. How far into the program are you? It' s so cool that you and your husband are doing it together. I'd love to not have to cook 3 seperate dinners!!! :)
