How I Started:
After gaining about 30+ in my late twenties (from celebrations after softball games, too many pizza dinners and burgers, etc) I wanted to get back to a healthy weight. I started long distance running, and eventually added weight training to the mix. I've lost 25 of those pounds of fat, and am looking to keep going. I want to get into the best shape of my life.
Why I Love It:
Working out is 'me' time -- something that gets harder to find as you get older.
How I Stay Motivated:
Looking good for my wife, and being a healthy role model for my children.

Main Goal:
Live Healthier
Goal (Overall):
To be physically, financially, spiritually, maritially, and family fit in 2009.
Goal (Long):
#1. My marriage and family are the most important thing in my life. Without it, all else crumbles. Thus, my goal is to constantly work at being the best husband and father I can be. #2. Financially, I want to be debt free (except for the house) by my 40th birhtday. I also want to be on Dave Ramsey's Baby Step 4 by then. Being financially fit helps all other goals. #3. Without health, you have nothing. Physically, I also want to take care of my liver, as I have Hepatitis C. I want to be around for my kids grandkids. Looking great is a nice plus, but my internal health always comes before outward appearance. #4. Spiritually, I want to be content, love my neighbor, and acknowledge and respect the higher power and know that that power loves us. I enjoy Zen mediation and want to learn more about that.

Trying to do too much, too soon.

Squats and bench press can be dangerous. If you fail and don't have a spotter, you can get trapped under the weights.

This morning I took the pup for a 20 minute walk, did 25 minutes of meditation, and did some writing. I'm back to a 3 day lifting scheduling, so I'll hit the gym tomorrow.

Not too much more to write about right now. My diet was terrible yesterday (actually, pretty good until the Saints...

Hey! Yeah I know. I have been gone for a bit. I not only let myself get derailed, I didn’t dish out the encouragement to my friends. I apologize. I know I don’t have to but I have found that my friends help me stay on track and I hope I do you as well. I don't mind, I like the long distance running but I have bad knees and can't run for a long time, I need to find a good cardio to go along with my circuit training.
