How I Started:
After gaining about 30+ in my late twenties (from celebrations after softball games, too many pizza dinners and burgers, etc) I wanted to get back to a healthy weight. I started long distance running, and eventually added weight training to the mix. I've lost 25 of those pounds of fat, and am looking to keep going. I want to get into the best shape of my life.
Why I Love It:
Working out is 'me' time -- something that gets harder to find as you get older.
How I Stay Motivated:
Looking good for my wife, and being a healthy role model for my children.

To be physically, financially, spiritually, maritially, and family fit in 2009.
Goal (Long):
Fitness to me means more than physical fitness. It involves several areas of our lives; the big four being physical, financial, and spiritual. It's those areas I strive to improve every day! People are telling me I've gotten too skinny with all the cardio. Thus, my goal is to gain some lean muscle -- ideally 10 to 20 pounds. That's going to take a while. Since it's not in the budget to join a gym, I'm doing it old school. I'm training like a boxer. Muhammad Ali is the man.

Squats and bench press can be dangerous. If you fail and don't have a spotter, you can get trapped under the weights.

This morning I did an upper body workout, after a quick walk with the pup. Tomorrow will be a cardio day. I've been eating better; really watching my intake. Overall, the hardest part of my fitness program is time. I need to get in the gym at 5am if I really want enough time before the family...

Hey! Yeah I know. I have been gone for a bit. I not only let myself get derailed, I didn’t dish out the encouragement to my friends. I apologize. I know I don’t have to but I have found that my friends help me stay on track and I hope I do you as well. So please forgive me for abandoning you and fill me in on what you have been up to these last couple of months. How are your workouts? Diet? Motivation? What are you looking forward too? I don't mind, I like the long distance running but I have bad knees and can't run for a long time, I need to find a good cardio to go along with my circuit training.

I love your goal of becoming physically, mentally, spiritually, and financially fit in 2008. That really is the best attitude to have. I'm trying to teach myself that at the moment. The financial thing isn't going to well though. Congrats on your weight loss so far. You are doing great :)
