When I Started:
How I Started:
I was a gymnast and dancer growing up, and a college-level cheerleader. I was blessed to have some really knowlegable coaches who emphasized the importance of conditioning for strength, performance, and injury prevention.
Why I Love It:
I love the high I get from challenging myself in the gym. There's no greater feeling than leaving the gym, knowing that I gave a workout everything I had!
During this show prep especially, I'm really learning to conquer any and all self doubt. Each day I swear I have no idea how I'm going to make it through the next workout, yet somehow I leave the gym proving myself wrong once again...eventually those feelings of strength and empowerment chase all negativity away. =)
How I Stay Motivated:
I'm very fortunate to have a family who embraces the same healthy lifestyle I do. They are my support system, as I am theirs!
My father, a 60-year old diabetic just recently lost 50 lbs (and there's more to come!) He runs up to 5 miles a day!
My mother has a degenerative disc disease in her back. She was bed-ridden for an entire year when I was in 7th grade because it was so bad. Thanks to proper nutrition, advancements in technology (bosu ball, free motion machines, elliptical trainer, etc) she trains 1 1/2 hours every day (EVEN ON CHRISTMAS!)
My sister faught a long, hard battle with anorexia for many of her teenage years. She's now 27, married to the greatest husband in the world, has a masters degree from Florida State, a job she totally kicks ass at, and most importantly, she's finally starting to see herself as the beautiful, loving, compassionate person we've known all along =o)
My brother-in-law is a trainer at Lifestyle Family Fitness. He's taken his passion for fitness and helped so many of his clients change the way they look and feel about themselves. He and my sister are a constant source of love and encouragement.
Also, I'm very competitive in nature. I'm working my butt off training for these 2 shows coming up. On days when I feel sore and can't get out of bed, or during training when my biceps are burning like hell and I feel like I can't push it any farther, I remember that there's ALWAYS someone else out there training for the same thing I am...and when it comes to EFFORT, I won't settle for 2nd best.
BB Accomplishments:
2008 ~*MY FIRST COMPETITION SEASON*~
09/20 - NPC *HURRICANE BAY* ~ My first fitness show! (Tampa)
10/04 - NPC Southeastern USA (Longwood)

"I push for one more day, I push for one more rep, I push to get stronger, go higher, get faster, and be bigger...I push because I know somewhere out there, there's someone training for the very same thing I am...and when it comes to effort, I won't settle for second-best." ~*Me*~
Hey you look fantastic! you/re going to do great :) I just did my first show and it was the most fun exciting experience I've ever had in my life nothing beats the feeling of being on stage after working so damn hard and dieting so hard and saying here is what I've got :) Good luck
I look forward to seeing how you do.
I stay lean but it's a combination of my metabolism and my diet. I haven't had a cookie in forever. I love carbs though. I miss my breads and sandwiches. I don't mess with bulking...my weight hasn't changed much since I started competition.
I'm the same way...easier for me to lean out than to bulk up. The posing and routine practice is no joke, ESPECIALLY for you. Oh and thank you. I'm 8 weeks from the All Forces. Yeah it's down in Tampa on October 25th.

Hey! Thanks for the friends request! I might also be doing that show...do not know yet. :-) Good luck to you! I live about 100 miles south of you, but come to Tampa/St. Pete often. :-0 FYI.....Shannon Dey is my trainer and she is the BEST! Her bootcamps are awesome. I am at one now in Daytona. Let me know if you want more info. xoxo
