When I Started:
Sep, 2007
How I Started:
I have yoyo'd with my weight for about all of my adult life, losing 25-30 pounds several times over the last 20 years, only to regain it. I guess the inner body building started a little over 8 years ago when I got sober from alcohol. I have spent the last eight and a half years cleaning up my past and working on my mind, spirit and soul. In Sept. of 07 I decided to lose weight again, really just wanted to wear smaller jeans and shorts. The weight loss was a success over about a nine month period, going from 211 down to 179. One day in June of 08, I was finishing up running and walked thru the weight room and thought to myself that I could try lifting and if I didn't care for it, I would be happy with the weight that I had lost. After lifting for a few weeks and enjoying looking at myself in the mirror, I hired a weight coach for 6 sessions and have worked with him since then. I started with him 17.8% body fat and now am below the last measurement of 12.8% and currently hovering around 195-200lbs. I only want to get better and bigger, growing at a safe pace, sometimes I get little impatient though! Being addicted to alcohol, when drinking it, the feeling I have for working out is freakishly similiar. I can't ever seam to leave work and not go to the gym, like in the old days when I could never drive by the liquer store with out stopping and restocking my stash. Sure as heck glad them days are over(hopefully forever). This new addiction is better for my health and my weight coach keeps me grounded on how much time I should or should not be training. I am grateful to be learning that I have potential to grow my body, even if I'm in my mid 40's, that really makes the motivation even stronger. I plan on working with my trainer for 1-2 years and also maby finding a lifting partner. I love being in the gym!:-)
Why I Love It:
I have always wanted to have an athletic body but was intimidated by the people in the gym, didn't have the money and didn't have the time, that was then, I am no longer intimidated, I can afford a coach and I make the time!
How I Stay Motivated:
My motivation currently is the results that I have gotten over the last one and a half years. I've started introducing myself to people at the gym and that ads another positive to being in the gym and knowing people by name and swapping stories from time to time, I love attention and being called by my name or a nickname, not just a few short heys, or, how ya doins? (ya know what I mean?) Also get pumped when getting comments on bb.com
BB Accomplishments:
Personal accomplishments have been starting my quest for a better body, losing the 30+lbs that I wanted to lose and now have gotten body fat down below 12% and have added almost 25 pounds of muscle with a ways to go!

Which pro bodybuilder/fitness/figure competitor has the ideal physique? Why?
I havn't studied or picked out a favorite yet, Frank Zane seams interesting to me because he is an ectomorph type body and I've been told that is the type of body I have. My trainer is a pro and I choose him as my celebrity body and he has the ideal physique right now and is my mentor.I havn't studied or picked out a favorite yet, Frank Zane seams interesting to me because he is an ectomorph type body and I've been told that is the type of body I have.
