I bet my dad$20 in grade 11 that I could touch the rim in 6weeks cause I bought a jumping program. I failed.
But used it for inspiration to get better.
Why I Love It:
Its addicting to see improvement. And I like to watch my strength to weight ratio increase.
How I Stay Motivated:
Read books of people at high levels and see there stories. Ask people better then me how they get so strong or older people who use to be amazing.

Most of your vertical is based on genetics. I do do mostly strength training and weights. But, I'll sometimes do plyometrics in the sand and do sprints on a track. In the off season is mostly when I do weights only because during the season I'm plaing volleyball for 3 hours a day. That is enough jumping for me in a day. But, keep lifting legs hard and check into some plyometric training. If you need some excersizes let me know.
