I actually used to smoke and finally hit a point where I thought I needed to make changes. I started jogging and found that the smoking wasn't working while running. I quit smoking cold turkey and starting running back in 1991. After that, I started getting more into working out as well. It wasn't until probably towards the end of 2006 that I started getting the gains I wanted. I guess it was ignorance on my part which kept me from being able to hit my goals.
Why I Love It:
I love the feeling when you are finished working out. It's such a rush and a great feeling of accomplishment.
How I Stay Motivated:
Let me say that as you get older, it's definitely harder to stay motivated, at least for me. One great way to stay motivated is to set short term goals for yourself. I work for a large health insurance company so I also see the many other benefits of taking control of your health.
BB Accomplishments:
I'd say most recently my weight gain has been my biggest accomplishment. I think I need to fine-tune a few things but that is by far my biggest accomplishment.
Long-term I'd like to get to at least 190 pounds. My goal is to keep increasing muscle and weight and level out somewhere around 190ish. Nothing is impossible!
What is the most dangerous weightlifting exercise? Why?
Well, I don't know that anything is dangerous if you are using the right amount of weight and/or have a partner. Probably the dumbest thing (and we've all done it) is try to max out on the bench without someone spotting. That's by far the dumbest and most dangerous exercise. I've done it, hence I can say how STUPID it is. Well, I don't know that anything is dangerous if you are using the right amount of weight and/or have a partner. What is the most common reason that somebody gets injured while lifting?
If I was to guess I'd have to say improper form and using too much weight.

Have you ever had a lifting injury?
Yes
What type of injury was it? How long were you injured? How did you recover?
Torn pectoral and it took a few weeks to heal. I was told by my physician no working out but of course if you are like me, you don't listen and always try to find a way to keep working out. Fortunately for me, it healed up. It probably wasn't the smartest move ignoring my physician. Torn pectoral and it took a few weeks to heal. Great job with those solid gains. :)
I JUST started leaning up again. I do it slowly, though, so it will be a few months before I have any exciting news to share. LOL
yep when I lean out I mean business and kill myself with cardio, ha! Well I just want a more defined six pac this summer so I'm starting now and hope to see some progress in a few months as I really work on eating clean and training hard!! How about you?
well I'm leaning out right now, so for me that means super squeeky clean eating and cardio twice a day, while training hard with the weights. That pretty much takes up my whole day, ha! Have a great weekend!
Que Pasa!! It's been crazy here between travel, work, moving, holidays, training OMG!!! When's it gonna end! Actually I'm great and loving life!! See you where the cowboy yells!!!lol
wow sounds like you are definitely on the right track, some pretty awesome goals I am sure you will reach before Spring...things are going good over here, now that the holidays are over, things have slowed down! Looking forward to hitting it hard for Spring and summer, just around the corner!
It's so nice to travel during the holidays, it's less stress on you...less entertaining for sure. I'm doing ok, just crazy busy and trying to eat clean during this time of year is a pain in the ass for sure, but hanin' in there. How's your traing been nice new pic!! TGIF and have an awesome weekend!
Yeah...I switched training styles...but I'm about to take a break from that to go back to something a bit more usual because I can't time those workouts around my holiday schedule (recovery time has ended up being EXTREMELY important!). I will get to see for sure whether I've gotten stronger, though!
You must be making great gains if your waist is shrinking but you're staying the same weight!
hey there, I'm fine, just crazy busy with the holidays upon us and my daughters basketball games, etc. What about you anything new going on, like the avatar pic! :)
From what I understand, my surgery was a lot easier than yours. I had fungal sinusitis...thought it was just allergies too until my nose started swelling up off and on and I couldn't breathe through my nose AT ALL. My surgery was pretty easy, though, gotta say. Just soft tissue damage.
