Background

When I Started: May 2007
HOW I STARTED:

Always wanted to workout and get stronger, got a bench set when i was like 15 and I was hooked.

WHY I LOVE IT:

I love progress, the thought of reforming my physique intrigues me. I love change and I always strive to improve whether it be a lacking body part for contest time or a lift that I want to increase.

dpaul4553 But, an inch between your hanging and flexed measurement is very good - shows how lean you are! And don't worry, they still look much larger than they are which is what counts. Keep working hard and you'll be over 16 by January 1 and at 17 before Spring (at least that's my prediction). Nov 14, 2008 4:01pm

dpaul4553 Yes, the 17.25 was pumped and flexed. I was so excited to hit that size at all that I put in my stats here on-line but then the next time I recorded my cold unflexed (the 16.5). I now record in my personal log both the cold unflexed and cold flexed sizes. I'm kind of a measurement junkie so I'll take all kinds of measurements just for the heck of it but I usually record the cold unflexed ones. Let me know what your cold unflexed size is, I'm curious now too! Nov 14, 2008 5:11am

dpaul4553 Yeah, that's how I did it for my current stat. This is what the "official" guidelines for measurement provided by BodySpace recommend - though I usually measure flexed as well (that's how I got the 17.25 measurement the other day). I usually check both flexed and hanging as the difference between the two is an indication whether I'm gaining fat or muscle (you can't flex fat). Nov 12, 2008 3:13pm

dpaul4553 I only ask about the flex and unflexed to compare to my measurements. I'm 16.5 unflexed, so you're really gaining on me -though I think your arm looks more solid and defined, so you might actually be bigger in terms of "true" muscle! Especially since I think from your pictures most of the growth occured in a shorter time when things really started "clicking" for you! Refresh my memory - do you measure flexed or unflexed? dpaul4553 Hey, I thought you might be interested in some good news for me - I pumped my arms up tonight to the largest size I can recall being (17.25 inches) so I feel I'm really back on the path to growth - strength seemed through the roof for me tonight too! dpaul4553 That's great news and it's certainly time to update the stats on your profile page - arms must be well past the 15" mark by now! I'll be sure to watch for and comment on your new lower body pics, I know they will show great improvement as well. My lifting is going okay, nothing outstanding, but I'm not going backwards which is about the best I can plan on these days given my schedule.
