I've been active since my track & field/cross country days in high school, in addition to basketball and a general love for being active and the outdoors. I struggled with anorexia as a young teen and from there strived to learn to lead a normal, healthy life while maintaining my figure [I don't have the best metabolic genes!]. Through years of trial and error I finally learned the do's and don't's in regards to training and nutrition when I befriended one of the personal trainers at my gym [2 years ago]. Since then I have gained a great deal of knowledge and went on to become a certified fitness trainer myself.
Why I Love It:
It keeps me healthy, strong and with confidence. I physically love the liberating and independant feeling I get when challenging my muscles and body...mostly because I challenge myself in all other aspects of life already. I love being able to feel and look as strong on the outside as I am in spirit :)
How I Stay Motivated:
Fitness is a way of life for me, so motivation is not necessary. However when I am pushing myself during my workouts, I think about all the struggles I have been through and all of the elements that have tried to keep me from achieving my goals throughout my life. Then I think about all the people who are fighting for their lives and who are less fortunate, and it is almost as though I am "fighting" for a better world for us all. I am a very spiritual person, so this keeps me in tune with my mind, body and soul.
BB Accomplishments:
No competitions just yet! I have had some physical setbacks [injury] which have forced me to keep my workouts light for the time being. I hope to compete as soon as possible*

on? I'm on my bike busting my ass six hours a day. What are you on?"

A four pack with a warm layer of flub. Oh and the love handles. lol.
Still got a ways to go, but at least it fits! haha!
My dream is to get into competition shape, even if I never end up competing (which I DO wish to do someday). I don't have the best genes, being naturally curvy due to my Hispanic background. While I can gain muscle quicker than you'd think, I need to amp the fat burning and cardio to keep everything in line. As mentioned above, I struggled as a young teen with an eating disorder, so proving that I can get physiologically where I want to be by doing things healthy is very important to me. No supplements, fat burners, nada! I also wish to see if once in tip top shape I could try to do some fitness modeling. I want to see where my body can take me in every way.
Hey Everyone! Below is my favorite clean dessert recipe for oat bran muffins that taste DELICIOUS! It has taken me a couple tweaks of the original recipe and I am happy with the end result. I also included my own nutritional breakdown in addition to ingredients and directions :o) Hope you...
Great to hear from you...! Who needs boys anyway, right? Glad to hear your back is healing... and you are sticking with your training. It is hard during times of stress... I just want to eat, eat, eat! I'm between contests, carbing up and trying to add a bit of muscle before I taper again. Feeling very big and puffy right now... don't like it much.

Ahh, I see! Well, for the most part the meals are clean...although, pork and beef aren't necessarily bad I haven't eaten them in over 15 years. I eat a lot of lean meats i.e. chicken, turkey, etc. However, when I don't have a healthy snack such as fruit or a veggie of some sort then I will resort to a shake or protein bar which seems to be more often now. I have managed to get on the 6 small meals diet. That's not to say that every now and then I don't indulge in not-so-clean foods...
The compliment is certainly well deserved! Okay, I know that I have said it before but now I have actually built the discipline to use protein shakes twice a day in place of my meals. By the way, I guess it's true what they say about he Apple not falling from the tree because a lot of ppl are getting on Macs. Hope you had a great weekend!
I am a religious foam roller user! With consistent use it can change the way you walk, the way you lift, and prevent injuries beyond imagination. Glad you found some relief. Now, don't let a day go by without using it...!
