How I Started:
I've been active since my track & field/cross country days in high school, in addition to basketball and a general love for being active and the outdoors. I struggled with anorexia as a young teen and from there strived to learn to lead a normal, healthy life while maintaining my figure [I don't have the best genes!]. Through years of trial and error I finally learned the do's and don't's in regards to training and nutrition when I befriended one of the personal trainers at my gym. Since then I have gained a great deal of knowledge as I've gained experience as a professional in the fitness industry.
Why I Love It:
It keeps me healthy, strong and with confidence. I physically love the liberating and independant feeling I get when challenging my muscles and body...mostly because I challenge myself in all other aspects of life already. I love being able to feel and look as strong on the outside as I am in spirit :)
How I Stay Motivated:
Fitness is a way of life for me in and itself. However when I am pushing myself during my workouts, I think about all the struggles I have been through and all of the elements that have tried to keep me from achieving my goals throughout my life. Then I think about all the people who are fighting for their lives and who are less fortunate, and it is almost as though I am "fighting" for a better world for us all. I am a very spiritual person, so this keeps me in tune with my mind, body and soul. Aside from the spiritual stuff ;) ... I find motivation in other strong, fun-loving women in the industry, and my idol is Monica Brant (like most of us!)
BB Accomplishments:
Got through my first figure comp! That was an accomplishment in itself!! ;D
