From wrestling team in high school. I had no talent for wrestling (or any other sport, for that matter) so I dropped out but continued going to the gym. I taught myself how to lift through trial and error. I went from a 135-pound freshman to 180-pound senior. I became the most muscular guy in my class for my weight. Since then I've had some major ups and downs: hernia while in South America, broken foot in the Air Force, deploying in support of Iraqi Freedom...so it has been difficult to get and maintain an ideal physique. I've given up on stability in my life and am now working on developing an adaptable routine for my busy lifestyle.
Why I Love It:
Working out produces measurable results and requires little talent - just lots of effort.
How I Stay Motivated:
Motivation comes from the pressure of competition with peers...and the young guys at the gym! Every time I see someone better built (leaner or more muscular) than I am (right now: just about everybody!) I get angry and really pound it out. I will exceed them one day. The results are slow in coming but I know I am on the right track as more and more people stop and stare or ask me for advice.
BB Accomplishments:
2003-2004 - NPC Utah District Chairman
2004 - Promoter - Natural Utah Cup
2003 - Promoter - Utah Cup
2002 - 3rd Light-Heavyweight - Utah State
2002 - 5th Middleweight - Mountain West Natural, Utah
Who, in their right mind, would want more muscle!? ...who said I was in my right mind?
Goal (Long):
I know my measurements are nothing special. I also know my current physique is unimpressive. I am fighting my waning youth and trying very hard to have the body people envy. I appreciate the transformation stories posted on this site - it not only lets me know I'm not alone but that it is possible.
So, aside from the classic, chiselled physique I want my arms to fill out my sleeves. I think they're the weakest part of my appearance right now. What do you think?
