As they tell me, it's an art, but using a split and allowing your muscles to recover is one of the things I learned in the last year.

... you seem to have a handle on the diet part with your "Off the Couch" clean plan, so keep going with that.

Change takes time. The fat change you want takes, in rank order: 1) diet, 2) cardio, and 3) weights.

Three x / week is a normal lifting schedule for a three-way split. Something like 1) legs; 2) chest, triceps, and shoulders; and 3) back and biceps, and abs on one or two of those days. A four-day split is often used too. The idea is to let your muscles recover before stressing them with another lifting session.

DOMS from cardio or weights? If weights, then you just work some other muscle groups (split) or spread out the full-body weight workouts and do cardio days in between. Twice a week full body is kind of normal.

"I want to lose weight and feel better" Do it. Watching what you eat is primary.

You're lifting while your muscles are still sore from the previous session? In what I have read, that's not recommended because they are still recovering from the last session. That's why splits or widely spaced full-body routines are used. If you're sore from cardio, that's another thing. That's adaptation to moving and should go away with time.

Weak is expected for you at this point. You'll move beyond that, just get your shoulder warmed up first.

I wouldn't call Puerto Rico "some wonderful location". Where we go for work, there's poverty. The rest of the island isn't exactly "the island of enchantment" like their license plates claim.

Someone like you with more experience, who know how to train for results, might be a better person to evaluate Kubik's training methods and the new book.

Congratulations on your rehab. You apparently have made some good progress with it. Take it easy on your shoulder until your get your strength back up.

I took it easy with the bag last week, but what I did last night is more like what I should be doing. Heavy and carry it longer.

Have you been using the trap bar? If you use that, you don't need to bother with squats or deadlifts separately because, as you know, it does both. It's supposed to be easier on the back and apparently lots of guys with back problems use that only.
