Overall Goal: -- Win the mens open class for my weight division in a Natural Bodybuilding competition by 2010. Win pro card in a natural division in 2011.
Fit Status:
In the middle of a week off and am already going nuts without the workouts. Looking forward to getting back at it!
My father sparked my interest in exercise, introduced me to weight training when I was very young. When I was 12 years old I read a book called Bodybuilding 101, (can't remember the author). In that book, the author wrote about gladiators and warriors who prepared for battle and through various forms of resistance training. Fueled by that book and my father's example I was hooked on weight training and bodybuilding ever since. After college I entered my first bodybuilding competition and there was no turning back after that.
Why I Love It:
No matter what your excuses are, how much you want it, or who you know, there's no consolation prize if you fail to put in the effort and apply properly the science of training and nutrition. But you will be rewarded in direct proportion to your effort, knowledge and discipline with the physique you seek to attain. Natural bodybuilding is an objective, merit-based endeaveor that strengthens your body, sharpens your mind and makes visible your soul.
How I Stay Motivated:
I feel that God has called me to be among other things, a bodybuilder. Feeling healthy, fit, strong, confident and attractive for my wife is something I don't take for granted. But I don't need motivation. Bodybuilding is a compulsion.
BB Accomplishments:
First competition was in Hawaii in 1997. I didn't place but was hooked on competition.
1999 - Hawaiian Classic Bodybuilding Championships NOVICE Lt. Hvy Wt.- 3rd Place
1999 - Hawaiian Armed Forces Bodybuildng Contest OPEN Lt. Wt. - 2nd Place
2000 - NGA Mt. Rogers Bodybuilding Championships OPEN Mid. Wt. - 4th Place

-- Win the mens open class for my weight division in a Natural Bodybuilding competition by 2010. Win pro card in a natural division in 2011.
Goal (Long):
(1) Drop about 10 lbs of bodyfat by 15 Oct and then to maintain a lean off season body composition while. (I want to look like a bodybuilder for more than the two weeks before and after a competition.)
(2) Gain no less than 4 lbs of muscle per year.
(3) Combining goals 1 and 2 I should weigh between 186.5 and 191.5 by 15 Oct 2009 which should be within 10 lbs of competition weight. The idea is to not have to diet as long as I typically have for competition prep and thus spare some of the hard earned muscle acquired during the off season.
(4) Win Pro Card in a major bodybuilding organization by 2011.
(5) Accomplish 1 - 4 all natural and while maintaining a happy family life and successful career.

Where do you mainly workout?
Home
Why? What are the pros and cons of working out there?
I love my home gym. I'm have a room in my basement which is pretty well equipmed with a power rack, smith machine, cable machine (a part of the smith machine), a dumbell rack with dumbell sets from 5 to 40lbs, two adjustable benches, adjustable dumbells, an olympic barbell, olympic plates, a smaller adjustable barbell and matching weights, a punching bag, and mirrors. At first the only thing that seemed missing was the motivation of a crowd. However, now I'm more motivated without the distractions. I can play whatever kind of music I'd like, as loud as I'd like it and since I train at 0430 in the morning it is ideal. I never miss a workout because I couldn't make it to the gym or because it was closed. And I'm not dependent on a business for building my physique. I liken it to a hot rod builder having his own private garage to work in.I love my home gym. What type of nutrition plan are you currently following? Give full details.
n the off season I eat clean Monday through Friday and allow myself to relax a bit on Saturday and Sunday. My wife, kids and I like to grab a doughnut after Mass on Sundays. For competition prep I rotate my caloric intake. See bodyblogs for more details. n the off season I eat clean Monday through Friday and allow myself to relax a bit on Saturday and Sunday. I wanted to briefly diverge from our topic line to explain why the focus is on advanced performance fitness, when most people aren't looking to become competitive athletes.
I believe that most people, despite what they might tell you, really do want to achieve advanced levels of...

Hey Jeff, thanks a lot for the comment at my blog - very helpful. I think you are right and I really need to see if I can just get the workouts out of the way in the morning. It'll be tough as I'm not a morning person by nature - but it sure will take care of the late hours at work getting in the way. How're your workouts going by the way?
Man. Thanks for check on me! You looking great! as ever! How are you? Training good? Keep in touch. Many things happen this year, good and bad. we talk soon. I look you on stage again
ciao
Things aren't going too badly for me. Nothing spectacular but I'm working to change that over the next month or so. How's your training going? Still on track to compete again in 2010 or so? How's your career coming along? Back home again?
