When I Started:
Jun, 1999
How I Started:
After losing about 50 pounds of weight, and spending years of being very slim (125 pounds), I decided to try to add muscular mass.
Why I Love It:
I enjoy the challenge of pushing myself. Enjoy the feeling of the pump, of growing, of creating a new body. Doing bodybuilding right means you focus on you, and no one else's, routine. Focus on what improves you, not someone else. Leave the ego at the door. I find the option on a bodyspace page to record the amount of weight one can bench, squat, etc., as counter to the true goal. A judge at a competition doesn't see those numbers, doesn't see the body fat percentage. The judge sees on stage the results of a competitor's work, how close to the "ideal" of the day. Focus more on the pump in the gym and the reflection in a mirror than the numbers you record.
How I Stay Motivated:
I look at the images of the current and future pro competitors. Dreaming to look as they do isn't my goal: my goal is to BE them the best I can be.
BB Accomplishments:
I'll list accomplishments when I'm given a definitive definition of "bodybuilding." Is competing a requirement? Or just changing your body and lifstyle?
I'm successful in bodybuilding because I focus on it for myself. I've done pre-contest dieting and training; I survived the 16 weeks and felt I had made the change.

Tommy inspires me with his unflagging dedication to do the best he can in contest training and on the competition stage. He focuses on himself only and doing his best against himself rather than concerning his mind with others.
Why I like this video: It is Jean-Pierre Fux off-season. Just nice to see the real mass that a bodybuilder has to maintain off-season. The general impression is that pros are always shredded. This gives a better impression of how it is really.
