How I Started:
a few of my friends dads were bodybuilders and i seen them transform before my eyes and thought it was cool.
but when i seen pics of arnold and lou in musclebuilder mags as a kid i was hooked and wanted to get BIG!
Why I Love It:
i just love being big and strong.
ilove the sounds of the clinking plates, the smell of the iron the heft of it in your hands. the focus and determination you get into when your "in the zone"durring a workout when everything else around you ceases to exsist but you and that set!
and setting new personal bests is as satisfying as sex(well almost)
How I Stay Motivated:
ive been off for over 14 years and am getting back into serious lifting again, and i do find it much harder now at 40 than it was when i was younger.
but when i look at ronnie or catch a worlds strongest man compitition on espn
i get motivated to move some iron.
good training partners are a must.its hard to train heavy alone as i am now somedays i just dont feel like lifting after a hard day at work.
BB Accomplishments:
i never entered a contest. i didnt think i was ready yet.my mom and sister tried to get me to enter a contest at ball state were my mom was a professor and my sis was going to school at the time. but i wanted to be a monster on my 1st outing.(didnt want to go on stage till i looked like arnold,lou or fox)
my measurements then @ 6'4" and 278lbs were
neck = 19
chest = 57.5
arms = 22
waist = 33
legs = 31
calves = 20
bodyfat 8%
best lifts (raw and no wraps,and natural never tried steroids)
squat-775

bench-535
atlas/stone 400+(used big block chevy engine)
firemans carry 500lbs log 40ft and place in bed of truck.
farmers walk with 300 for 180ft
carlift,chevy chevette for 40ft.

Goal (Long):
by the end of 2009 id like to id like to be 295-300 pounds and be around 10-12% bodyfat
also like to increase main lifts as follows
bench close to 500
squats close to 700
deads close to 700
shrugs like to get 1200
rows close to 500
shoulder press 325-350
curls 250+lb
tri.ext 200 "on my machine"
power cleans 315-350
Hey, sorry I missed your comment from like a year ago! I slowly drifted away from my page and haven't been here in forever. But I needed some motivation, so I'm back ;)
I'm actually still in the Army. I was 42AF5 (postal) and am now 79V (retention). I'm a reservist though, only active time was Iraq 04-05.
