How I Started:
Years ago, I wanted to get better at basketball. Moreover, I wanted to be able to dunk like Michael Jordan. :-) So, I had to get cracking on my legs. Hit the weights hard, got much better at ball, fell in love with working out, and have loved it ever since.
Unfortunately, over the years, I repeatedly let other things in life get in the way, so now I have my work cut out for me...big time.
Why I Love It:
I love feeling myself get fitter.
When you run up flights of stairs and realize that you are not gasping for air like you would have before...that's a great feeling.
When you put on your belt and realize that you've passed all of the holes in it, and need to make a few more...that's a great feeling.
When you put on a shirt you haven't worn in a while because you think it's probably still too small for you, and you realize that it not only fits, but it fits well...that's a great feeling.
When you're in the gym, having a great workout and realize that you are JUST ON FIRE today/tonight and your body can take more of this...you feel almost superhuman...that's a great feeling.
When you're doing the do, and compared to a while back, boy are you doing the do!...that's a superb feeling!
Even when your arms hit your side, and you feel less love handles than you did before...that's a great feeling.
These are just a few of the many feelings that make me love working out.
How I Stay Motivated:
Pray for strength...mentally and physically.
Read empowering books and blogs (fitness and otherwise).
Look at some of my favorite Bodyspace bodies and imagine myself there one day.
Close my eyes and visualize myself in my ideal body.
Celebrate the little successes I see when I've been working out (see "Why You Love
Bodybuilding/Working Out" section above).

Goal (Long):
To reach my ultimate goal of 215 lbs and 7% bodyfat. To get that six pack that, many times, I've dreamt I have. To finally be okay with taking my shirt off at the beach. To no longer be the fat guy in the room (thanks cawiau, for that motivating declaration). To be a good example to my kids, when I have kids, whenever that may be. To be around for a long time with my wife, family, and friends.

Hey bro, you got to do what you got to do! First try to make it to the gym more often, like 3-4 times a week, also cardio about the same time. Diet... just clean it up little by little. And keep me posted bro, keep kicking ass!
