Overall Goal: After losing 25lbs I am now ready to start gaining some muscle. I'm gonna start planning to increase my protein and calories to put on size. Looking to put on 10 lbs of muscle. Hopefully by the end of Jan.
Fit Status:
I'm back!!! been gone for 10 days while working in Daytona Beach, Almost time to start building size!!
After 12 years of marriage I got separated from my first wife in Mar 2006. I decided if I wanted a better result than I needed to start making different decisions. I started with the decision to get myself in shape. In April 2006 I joined a gym and started reading every bodybuilding magazine I could find to help me figure out what to do. When I started I was 6' 236lbs with a 39" waist and a 44 inch Gut. I worked hard and 6 months later, briefly got myself down to 191 lbs. Then I started to cheat more and more on my diet and started to hover around 200lbs. on Sept 17th 2006 I met a beautiful, amazing woman and soon after fell in love with her, I proposed to her in Mar. 2008 and then started finding excuses to not go to the gym. By July 2008 I had missed almost 3 months in the gym, then remarried in Aug, started a new job in October and by July 2009 have basically gone a year out of the gym. I decided to get focused and get back on my path reaching my goals. I am nearly 37 now and want to be bigger and better when I turn 40 than I have ever been in my entire life. I have been back in the gym for 2 weeks now just trying to work out the initial soreness and knock off the cobwebs but starting today I am ready to get serious about my training. I am ready to transform my body, First to lean and muscular then on to Big & Strong. I Have an ultimate goal of 225lbs and 9% bodyfat. All I need now is a diet that I can stick to and a workout plan that will get me to my goal.
Why I Love It:
I love working out because of how it changes my confidence and happiness levels inside. All of the other challenges in life seem so managable when you feel strong and healthy inside.
How I Stay Motivated:
Motivation has always been my downfall but I usually get my motivation from seeing or reading about everyday people like myself who just made a decision one day and went out and achieved incredible results. I get so motivated when I see someone who started out in worse shape than me transform themselves into something I have never been. It helps me to realize that there is no special "Gene" that makes people just do it, but instead it is something that is inside all of us that we can use if we just believe we can do it.

Josh is an inspiration to me by seeing where he came from and how hard he worked to get there. Allows me to see that you don't have to be naturally big and muscular, you can earn it.
I have avoided putting you as an inspiration only because I'm sure you are flooded with Inspirational comments and notifications, but you really are an amazing inspiration. Thank you for being so real about it all and for your blunkers page, your words echo in my head all day long whenever I hear that little devil voice inside that wants to stop for a cocktail after work, or grab a doughnut, or hit the snooze button in the morning. I decided to let u know since I gave you props in my blog today.
How has bodybuilding and fitness helped you in your career?
I made a near critical job change decision within the last year that commanded all of my time resulting in significant weight gain and brought on a deep sense of regret, despair and depression. I have never been a pessimistic person so I tried to stick it out but when I realized that I was only going to sink deeper and deeper into despair I decided to quit and go into a completely new career path. I immediately decided to use my weight training as a force of power and motivation to rebuild my self esteem, my confidence and my commitment to change. so I sold off any and all investments and retirement I had left to give me enough time to rebuild something. As of this writing I am 9 weeks into a new commission only career path, 7 weeks into a body transformation and as of this writing still have not earned a paycheck but I am building momentum everyday, building connections, building relationships and I believe I will break through and be able to provide for my family again soon.I made a near critical job change decision within the last year that commanded all of my time resulting in significant weight gain and brought on a deep sense of regret, despair and depression. How has bodybuilding and fitness helped and/or changed your family life?
I have always been the life of the party type of guy. Your hard drinking, bar hopping, party central, fun lovin ready to party type of guy. I have always identified myself that way, so it has been very tough for me to change that persona, however I have been doing that since I was about 14 years old and at 36 4-5 nights of partyin not only looks a little childish and immature but I can only imagine how much longer before it catches up to me physically. I have gone 7 weeks with not a single all nighter and only one drinking night. I have been afraid of what might be like sober and I am finding that with my new body changes and the elimination of morning hangovers, life is starting to look and feel even better sober.I have always been the life of the party type of guy. Are you a parent?
Yes
How has bodybuilding and fitness helped you to be a better parent?
My children are starting to become aware of healthy food and nutrition. They have also commented on how they are spending more time with me because I am constantly turning down social events with my friends that no longer seem like fun since I have no interest in drinking and sabatoging my fitness goals and results. My children are starting to become aware of healthy food and nutrition. wow. that's a hell of a change. Be careful you lose slowly enough that your face stays full and doesn't get saggy and haggard looking. I lost so fast once (37 lbs in 4 months) that people were asking if I had cancer.
