During my freshman year of high school, I was tormented and bullied by older girls who were struggling with drug addictions. My best friend was beaten by this gang in front of hundreds of students I and was told that I was next. Soon after that experience, I attempted suicide. I was convinced there was no way out of my life situation, and so I would simply leave. It was a true miracle that I survived that experience, and, in result, I turned my life around. I thank God for the second chance of life I was given, and now it is my time to tell others about this experience.
Now, at age 20, I love life and all that it has to offer; and bodybuilding/competitive fitness has given me a new lease on life that thrills me!
Why I Love It:
I am intrigued by the transformation my body has gone through in the past few years due to healthy eating and exercise, and I am excited to see where I can take it in the next few months.
How I Stay Motivated:
Music. All types if music--hip hop, rock, pop, alternative, etc. Love great beats! Magazines, online forums, and conferences/expos also help me stay motivated. I post up pictures around of people who have achieved what I want to achieve. Monica Brant, for example, has been a huge motivator in my life, and I thank her for being such a strong woman--she's like my personal action figure.
BB Accomplishments:
Surviving my first week of contest prep for a figure competition! Whoo-hoo!!

This is a picture I took at the beginning of my sophmore year in college, before I knew how to pose.
I felt the best I have ever felt that day. During that entire summer I weighed in at about 110-112 lbs and probably was at 13-14% body fat.
What is your favorite cardiovascular exercise? Why?
Interval training on a treadmill switching back and forth between walking on a 15% incline and jogging slowly. When I do this my heart rate is at 75% allowing me to burn fat.

What is your cardio exercise plan?
I do 45 to 60 minutes of cardio at 75% of my MHR 5 to 6 days per week when I want to decrease my body fat levels. Once I reach a body fat goal, I cut my cardio sessions down to 25 minutes at 80% of my MHR 2 days per week. hi beny :) all my cardio info is listed in my profile here. When you are consistently eating right and working out each week for a very long time, you will never need to go nuts with cardio to stay lean, consistency is key.
I am starting to rethink competing as well. I don't have the time for that much cardio plus lifting. I've pushed back the show I wanted to do until Sept so I'm going to continue to try for it and decide when it gets closer. Good luck on your new goals!
Well, you are looking very lean now... but to answer your question I've never done a ton of cardio. 45 minutes at the maximum... if I'm trying to lose BF, I'll do it 6 days a week, first thing in the am before I eat.
How's training going? I'm no longer doing the show in MO, I'm going to wait until Sept. and do the one here where I live. I hope your training is going well.
The reward is achieving something that most people can't or won't. The journey to the show is what I enjoy the most. Judging for me is a way to stay in the community without having to compete anymore. 5 seasons is enough for me.
Sorry I didn't reply sooner. It was amazing to do that show and win the overall. There was plenty of competition too, so it I didn't exactly walk away with it. All of my hard work was rewarded. I had to remember that this was a Novice event, and I did the Pittsburgh show that same season and was NOT ready. You have to get feedback from the judges before you proceed, and I didn't. I've learned SO much since then. Now, I'm an NPC judge!
How is double cardio going? I used to coach under 6 soccer, that was fun. The kids were so funny. Of course we got the kids that like to push the other kids over and just take the ball! HA! Happy 21st bday!
Thank you! Will you do the double cardio every day? I get up at 4:30 am as is, I couldn't imagine getting up any earlier! Have I don't double cardio, no not since playing soccer in college and we would have 2-a-days but that's it.
I just saw your height; if it is the same show we would be in diff. height classes. I'm 5'9. Good thing I started to stress after seeing your figure and then seeing mine. Crap, I have a lot of work to do! HA!
Good luck! Is that the one in MO? If so that's the one I'm doing as well. The first bikini shots compared to your profile picture. You don't work your abs, wow they look great!
Thanks for the nice comments and encouragement. I will definitely check out your thread and look forward to hearing how you do in July! How is your diet coming along? Do you find it easy?
