I started lifting for football in seventh grade. Since then I have grown to need the gym and make training part of my every day routine.
Why I Love It:
Because, in the gym nothing else matters. It doesn’t matter what’s going on outside those doors, at work, with the girl, or with school. For those 2 hours every day, your in your own world, where all that matters is you and the weight. It’s you vs. gravity and steel. In the gym every one is like you, of the same world, of the same mind set. Even with the common thread that binds us warriors in the gym, there is no need for wasting our time with conversation of the outside world. We are all there fighting our own battles with our selves and it’s always a one man show. No one is there to make friends. A simple nod as you pass another lifter is all the greeting needed to show respect and acknowledge each others presence and the simple understanding of why they are there. It is the time to continue to drive for perfection by shaping what God has given us. Where big is never big enough and you can never be too strong.
How I Stay Motivated:
I can’t stand seeing people in the gym, day in and day out, that look like they come to the gym just so they can tell their friends their going to “work out.” Even the ones who do lift hard throw all their hard work to the curb by eating like crap and spending 50% of their time in the gym looking for the next girl to walk by. I NEVER WANT TO BE THEM.

Taken after my junior season of college football. I had been at this time i had been into lifting for years, but nutrition and a meal plan were the furthest thing from my mind.
