I took an after school 'Winter Conditioning' program for athletes to get ready for track season my sophmore yr in High School and it involved lifting wieghts. I liked it and took weightlifting as a P.E. class my sr year in High School and a circuit traing class in college. After I had kids I wanted to get back into wieght training and so did my husband so we got some equipment and set up a gym in our garage.
Why I Love It:
I love how I feel after a good workout, sore but in a good way and the energy high I get afterwards is awesome.
How I Stay Motivated:
Looking at others here and in my favorite magazines and remembering that this is a journey, not a quick fix.

I was about 172lbs. here. Same weight I left the hospital at.
I want to lean out and finally feel comfortable wearing a bikini.
Goal (Long):
I want to lean out and finally feel comfortable wearing a bikini. I don't want to spend any more time being uncomfortable in my clothes. I want to be able to go into a store and try clothes on and not have them be uncomfortably tight. I want to be able to do active things (hiking, sledding, etc.) with my kids and have energy!
Being in good shape will help me in every aspect of my life as well as setting a good example for my girls. And, of course, I want to feel hot and look hot for my hubby.
:-p
What do you think about people who "grunt" loudly while working out? Do you do it?
Whatever helps you get the reps out. I think I do.

Do you socialize while at the gym?

What type of outfit do you usually wear when you workout? Why?
Depends on what season it is when I am working out. If it's summer, shorts and a tank top. If its cold then I'll wear sweats or warm-up pants, a t-shirt, a long sleeve thermal shirt and a sweatshirt. I workout in my garage and it isn't heated except for 10 minutes before I go out there.Depends on what season it is when I am working out. If it's summer, shorts and a tank top. Why I like this video: I love this video because so many women won't lift because they're afraid they'll look like a guy, when the reality is, unless they take steriods, that can't happen!
So I'm here in L.A. and our hotel has an awesome gym! I jogged for 15 minutes (taking 3-4 30 sec. breaks) then put the incline to 10% for 1/4 mile jogged at 1% for another 1/4 mile. Then I did a quick full body circuit (12 reps):
I just dropped by to see how you are doing. The way may seem long but taken a little at a time it is not unsurmountable. Hope you have an absolutely wonderful Independence Day!
Hello!!! I know what you mean about only being able to work on one thing at a time... either the food or the excercising. My surgery went well and I am all healthy, thanks for asking... have a good day
Hi, I just wanted to check in with you.. It's been awhile... it looks like you are doing great. Your weight chart just keeps going down. How are you feeling? I met with a trainer 2 weeks ago and I am highly motivated agian ( after all that cancer stuff) So I am hitting the gym hard again, still trying to get the eating part under control, but doing better. Ok well good luck to you and I hope to hear from you soon.
LOVE IT! So glad i was able to help you in some way :) Yes, its a daily battle for us with kids. I feel like a taxi sometimes. Shuttling kids to friends houses, dance, or just out. Gotta make time for them too though! We also gotta have our time, just a balance we have to figure out :)
I think I need to throw in a couple of full body weight days too, I don't want to lose the muscle I've gained. I want to run a 5k too, my first. I think I might do the Cinco de Mayo run. As for the 10 min mile, I do mine on the treadmill (the only way I can track it) it says to run at 6 mph but I actually have to run at at least 6.2 mph to make a 10 min mile. Everyweek I just built up faster and faster by .1 mph. It really just gets easier the more you do. It's still tough though.
Hey! training is going good. I was lifting pretty heavy there for a while but have decided to focus more on cardio for a while. Gotta focus on that stubburn fat. How's everything going for you?
Thank you very much! My workout is really just your basic weights and cardio. Being consistent and obviously diet is major factor. I really believe diet is the most important when trying to achieve a leaner boy type. Just keep working on it and you will get there. I am always glad to help answer any questions that you may have.
