Background

When I Started: Jun 1990
HOW I STARTED:

I got started back in 1990 at the age of 30. I was going through a rough patch and hated the bar scene, so I joined a gym. It was my social life and my therapist during a difficult time. A couple of female gym rats took me under their wings(rats with wings?) and showed me the proper way to lift weights. I saw results so quickly that I was hooked immediately. I've been strength training ever since and became a personal trainer in 2001. (Believe it or not, before that I was a CPA.) I think I have a unique story because I've been in shape my whole life. I've always exercised, never had to lose weight, never been on a diet and wear a smaller size now than in high school. How many folks my age can say that?

WHY I LOVE IT:

I love bodybuilding because of the strong, healthy, sexy body it gives me in return. It's worth every second of pain and sore muscles.

$100,000 Transformation Challenge

It's time for me to walk the walk again by declaring my fitness goals for the New Year. My fitness challenge for 2011 is to participate in the $100,000 Transformation Challenge sponsored by BodyBuilding.com. I'll be blogging about my diet and workouts, so follow my progress and help hold me accountable!

Wow! I have been so busy preparing for this contest that I haven't taken the time to write down my thoughts along the way. My husband's new nickname for me is "tenacious"! I like that! I have definitely been tenacious with my workouts and my diet, never skipping or cheating or slacking! I've been practicing my walking and posing until I can do it flawlessly. I have my spray on tan scheduled, my hair, makeup and nails are decided. I'm not sure what time I need to get up that morning, though, to get myself together! I hate to think of getting up at 5 a.m., but I think I'm going to! Who...

Less than 3 weeks to my first competition!

I'm in the home stretch now and all my focus and energy is aimed at winning this competition. Unfortunately, I have a headache today, which is not unusual for me, but I'll have to ignore it and work out hard anyway.

turbolean Hey, remain focused because the prize is in sight! Remember, with each workout push a little harder so you can blast through any plateaus.
