How I Started:
I have always been active in and out of school - gymnastics, cheerleading, volleyball, track, mountain biking. In high school my parents pulled me out of the public school system! Being homeschooled for a couple years had its advantages. I got to travel around the world, and had personal training sessions for P.E class! I started lifting weights when I was 16. Over the years I lifted with my brothers and guy friends learning what I could from them. Then a bodybuilder (Mr. Iowa) started working out at my gym... I admired his amazing physique! I started reading a couple bodybuilding magazines and since then it became my dream to take my body to that extreme! I am currently going to school for nutrition and am a certified personal trainer. I want to be in the best shape I can be myself so I can help others do the same.
Why I Love It:
I loving the training/dieting of the sport of bodybuilding... thats what drew me into it. The extreme lifestyle that leads to an extreme body! I love a challenge and adopting the bodybuilding lifestyle definitely goes against the grain. I love how the hard training and clean eating makes me feel....
How I Stay Motivated:
Living in a small town in Iowa makes it hard to find people who have similar goals, or even know a thing about bodybuilding. I would love to train with a IFBB Pro! Someday I will move so I'm not limited by my location... Until then (studies first!) I try meeting as many people, read, and do all I can!! Several times a year I go for CEC's for my certification and network with people in the fitness industry! It's very motivating because I imagine what I could someday achieve if I give it my all. I even met Mia Finnegan (1985 Ms. Olypmia) last year and seeing a Oxygen fitness model in real life seriously motivated me!
BB Accomplishments:
Gained about 5 lbs of muscle within the past year by switching from high rep/light weight training to low rep/high weight!!

What I have to work with.... I need to build some muscle and decrease my body fat %!
My old two piece suit is fitting better! Hopefully I wont have to wear it now, soon I'll be able to don a skimpy string bikini to revile ripped abs!!
Tomorrow I move to school!! I am so excited! I was packed by the middle of the summer. I stocked up on a lot of protein powders!!! I am bringing my trusty blender and George Foreman! I am determined to come out of school with not only my degree but a fit, tight body!! I am so excited!

Wow - Way to go!!! I am just starting out at the age of 33. Grew up in Iowa myself along with my wife Graduated college from St. Ambrose in Davenport, IA. I'm hoping to see some real progress of my own. Trying to review what other people are doing in Wisconsin as that is where I now reside too. I wish you the best in your schooling and training!!!
