My cousin and I lifted weights at his house during high school. We worked out almost every afternoon after school (no breaks to recover - what did we know?!). We were both too small to make the football team, but we were fiercely motivated, and challenged each other. We got pretty beefed up, eating everything in the refrigerator, and drinking Joe Weider protein shakes. I've never totally stopped lifting ever since, although I have been more serious about it since joining 24 Hr Fitness in July 2007.
Why I Love It:
Hey - I'm just happy to not be ashamed to pull my shirt off to do yard work - this is good! I look younger than most men my age, and I like this. I am eating a lot more protein these days.
Yeah, it's winter in Austin now - time to BULK UP... screw seeing abs for a few months :-)
How I Stay Motivated:
I keep a journal when I workout, and it is motivating to see poundages going up, but I really keep my eye on having better mind-muscle connection than anything else - this is probably the key reason I work out - just enjoying feeling the body doing its thing...
BB Accomplishments:
I'll never compete in a contest - not my deal. However, I do enjoy being more muscular and hope to be an inspiration to others who want to get strong!
Kinda bulked up - I cut off the "abs" on purpose here. I've been consistent in workouts for a year now though, and am pretty happy with my progress. Am boosting protein in my nutrition now, too...
I have such a hard time putting on size, that I decided to give the cardio a little rest since Christmas. My strength is up, size is up, and some bodyfat came with the territory. I drop fat easily though, so no worries...
Hold on to as much mass as I can, and stay on my cardio work -
Goal (Long):
I don't have a particular person I would like to look like, and this is good, because I don't want to be disappointed with where my own development is all the time. I am seeing gains in muscular size, and this is all the encouragement I need.
Weight Goal:
I want to GAIN 5 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
7%

In my reading of blog posts by the natural pro's on this site, I've finally gotten it through my head that I have been overtraining, probably all my adult life! It's tough to be honest with yourself and say, "You know, I really don't look that much bigger than I did 3 months ago" -...
