When I Started:
1999
How I Started:
I started lifting weights, because I was on the varsity basketball team as a freshman, and I was 6'1 and weighed only 145 pounds. My coach had me lift weights, and by my senior year I got up to 205.
I ended up becoming more of a powerlifter type lifter after high school, lifting for strength and size instead of definition and lean muscle. I got my bench to 310 lbs, and my deadlift to 405, but at a bodyweight of a close to 230. But I didn't like the way I looked in the mirror with my shirt off, so I decided to try a more bodybuilding routine to cut up. After 4 months of using a bodybuilding style workout, and proper diet I cut down to 180, while keeping my bench press at 225 for 8 reps(dont know one rep, no spotter at present gym).
Why I Love It:
After a good workout I feel like I accomplished something, to stay active. I can have a bad day and then after I workout I feel totally different.
How I Stay Motivated:
I stay motivated because I don't want to be one of those people, who after high school never workout, and just drink all of the time and end up over weight with a beer belly.
BB Accomplishments:
-Got my bench press over 300 pounds (but I weighed 225+)
