It was always a dream of mine to compete, and I started this journey because I was challenged to do so.
Why I Love It:
I love being able to sculpt my physique through hard work. Lifting weights is a spiritual experience for me and gets me through to the other side of any situation I am dealing with.
How I Stay Motivated:
My motivation comes from diverse sources. Just as I am a multidimensional person so are the reasons that I workout and compete. Additionally, I am a person with intense drive to always push for a better physique. It is that drive inside of me that keeps my spirit alive and pushes me everyday. This lifestyle has given me much purpose and direction. Bodybuilding is an integral part of my continual path toward self betterment.

How long do you rest between sets on average? Why?
1-3 minutes. It depends on how many repetitions I complete. 12-15 reps or higher I take about a minute rest. 6-8 reps I rest for about 2 minutes. This is because that is how it takes for the lactic acid to leave the cells of the muscle being used.1-3 minutes. Have you ever had a lifting injury?
Yes
What type of injury was it? How long were you injured? How did you recover?
I just recently recovered from tendonidus(spelling??) of the long head of the bicep. I could not work chest or shoulders for a month. I did rehab work building the stabilizing muscles of the shoulder joint, and took a ton of supplements to aid joint health and repair.I just recently recovered from tendonidus(spelling??) of the long head of the bicep. I am a week away from my competition and I am ready. Flat, watery but that is normal and I am definitely lean. Not crazy stringy lean, but I can tell when I carb up things will be poppin! And poppin is always good lol. I wanted to come in fuller than I did this summer and as of now...
i know you are an extremely dedicated woman in the world of bodybuilding and fitness modeling, so i do apologize for all the questions, i assume this is your life as i hope to make this my reason for living, do you just make connections at the competitions, or are thee other ways of networking?

Ava,
you inspire me so much- i saw an ad in my oxygen mag yesterday with you in it!
what motivates you most to get to the gym and stick to your diet? is it easier to stick to all of that once your body looks good? ive just been having a hard time practicing what i preach lately and need a little advice from someone who has made it herself. I hope one day to be a fitness model and I wish to compete next year
any advice is good advice.
