When I Started:
Mar, 1998
How I Started:
I've always been athletic, but I didn't start working out until college. I began to train for another season of college basketball to stop those other posts from throwing me around like a rag doll. From there it just devloped into a love for being fit, and I've kept it up.
Why I Love It:
Those endorphins after a good workout are amazing!
How I Stay Motivated:
Being on a site like this is great because it humbles you... I've realized that I'm not nearly as buff as I thought I was and that I have a lot of work to do. But it also makes you realize that there are other people in the same boat as you. So if you're a hardgainer, I'd love to hear from you... advice on nutrition, training... I'm all ears.
BB Accomplishments:
Uh... I can bench press my own weight. I think... on a good day.

A humble hardgainer wanting to break out of his shell and make a serious attempt at adding some muscle mass... and I'm going to strive for a Fitness Model competition in the Spring. Not sure if I'll get there, but I can try...
Goal (Long):
Being one of those ectomorph hardgainers, I've worked out for years and have always been lean. I love my definition, but one problem... I look skinny, especially in clothes. So I'm finally ready to take the plunge and seriously try to add some muscle while keeping my definition... I hope I'm not too old! I'm finally taking supplements, have decided to get over my fears of overeating, and am going to go hard! I'm tired of people thinking I'm skinny...
Well, after several months of using NO and creatine, I've added about 5 pounds of weight... most of it good, I think. I'm now at the point where I feel as though I want a goal - abigger goal - and have decided to aim to compete in a fitness model competition in the spring. So, I 'll be...

Hey There,
Ulises from Calgary here. I found your profile/post on the bodybuilding forum and thought I'd send you a quick email to say hi and see how your progress is coming along.
I went to the FAME event in May 2007 and from what I saw you've got a pretty good shot at doing a great job, just a bit more bulk would do you great. One piece of advice for you: Incorporate Drop Sets/Supersets. It works wonders when bulking. It sure does for me!
Keep it up man!
Just wanted to keep you updated with your planning for the 2008 competition season!
FAME World Championships June 13-15th, 2008!
Over 650 athletes expected!

Heya, Hows the week be going?
Yah, I don't know if i have the guts to step on stage. Believe it or not, I am kinda shy. lol
I think you should go for it! Let me know, so i can cheer yah on :)
Hey Dave! not sure why you think you won't make your comp in spring... you're looking great already! Thanks for stopping by and your kind words. Good luck with your prep...stay focused - melita :)
Dude, you're not too old to train to gain muscle. I wondered the same thing not long ago and I'm older than you. Look around on this site and you'll find plenty of late starters like us.
Hey man, keep pushing and you'll make it happen! I know ALL about the plight of the ectomorph, but a healthy dose of dedication to keep the caloric intake up and lifting heavy has finally gotten me up to 214 lbs. at 6'3" with bodyfat still low enough to see ab definition. In the long run, you'll be glad for that crazy metabolism we have to deal with.
Hi,i can relate to where you are coming from im also an ectomorph with the challenge of putting on weight.I use to be afraid to overeat with the fear of putting on bodyfat, but with our metabolism and slow twitch fibers we are able to burn fat easily.Taking in those calories especially from complex carbs and hitting the weights with intensity and low volume are important factors for our bodytype.Enjoy the journey it is well worth it.
