Overall Goal: my goal is to show my son what it is to live in your passion and give it all you have everyday... and still keep your priorities and focus on the important things. i want him to know that the average joe does not have to settle for average.

When I Started:
Apr, 1998
How I Started:
i was very unhealthy... well... anorexic in high school. when i recovered, my time at the gym, and the people i met there were far more help to me than any therapist or family councelor. i learned a lot, made changes, and i've been addicted every since.
Why I Love It:
i'm absolutely fascinated by the human body and how we can manipulate it in a relatively short period of time. to me, it's live art.
How I Stay Motivated:
even the day to day accomplishments are so exciting. i mean from "another hour of cardio down!" to "added five pounds to my extensions!" or the ever famouse, "i survived this day without chocolate!" the daily successes are what makes the long term gains.
the gym is like a second home to me. i am more at ease there than pretty much anywhere else. it's like this: if i let my diet slip away, i've gotta face these people (accountability is good) but at the same time, most people are too concerned with themselves to notice someone else, so i also don't walk around trying to hide my head in shame... i do work very hard, but i am human...
BB Accomplishments:
third place in my first competition. this may sound silly but first and second place looked very good. i was proud to be on the same stage as these girls. i asked judges for tips for the future... perhaps with age and a little muscle maturity, i will do as they said and go back one day to clean up! (or at least i can keep it in my head as motivation!) my second two competitions i placed very well for the number of girls there, but i was pretty disapointed in myself. the competition place is irrelevent if the girls you compete against don't look that good. if they looked amazing and i got third place, then i'm proud... but it does tell me there's still work to be done.

it was the final week of my first competition that i understood the meaning of "meat head"!

Where do you mainly workout?
Gym
Why? What are the pros and cons of working out there?
at home, the kitchen is near by. sometimes i feel like i'm slacking because i may be a little hungry and i'll actually get off the elptical and go eat!!! if i am at the gym i am there and have the time blocked out to do it so i figure make the best of it and have no excuses. at home i am easily distracted.at home, the kitchen is near by. sometimes i feel like i'm slacking because i may be a little hungry and i'll actually get off the elptical and go eat!!! if i am at the gym i am there and have the ti...more

What should look for in a gym? What should you avoid?
i look for a place that i am comfortable and motivated by. if it is too dingy, i may not be motivated by it. if it is too flashy i may be overwhelmed and feel insecure. too dark and i'm tired. too bright and i may not be in the mood to deal with it... i find most are the same at 5am though! i personlly do enjoy the les mills classes so i am happy if a gym has them, but other than that am not a class lover, so unless it's les mills i could do without. i am not a swimmer so i don't care about a pool. i like long hours (preferably 24 hours.. never know when you'll need it!) and close enough to get to in bad weather!i look for a place that i am comfortable and motivated by. if it is too dingy, i may not be motivated by it. if it is too flashy i may be overwhelmed and feel insecure. too dark and i'm tired. too...more
so i go to nutritiondata.com and put in my info. says my maintenance is about 1900-2100 (depending on exercise options... i always put a few to see where it averages out to so that i know what to eat on longer workout days vs. easier days...) this means diet calories for me are like 1400-...
every few weeks i try a different split or plan, but i always end up comming back to this. (or something VERY close to this)
MONDAY: chest, triceps, shoulders; 20 minutes hiit, 40 minutes miss cardio
TUESDAY: lower body; 60 minutes miss cardio (yoga if i have time but mostly just when i feel...
Wow, good girl. Way to get a killer workout. Sorry to hear you were sore though...but that means your worked your tail off! I am good. I had shoulders and HIIT today. OUCH...but glad I got them over with.
Ugh, that would drive me nuts too! I actually stopped watching the news before bed, it was giving me crazy dreams...tell him its no good for him ;-) Hopefully, you guys can at least schedule a little wkend fun time..I'm trying to plan some myself!
See! There you go. I know so many people with babies right now and I see and hear it all...various stages. And all of them are very proud mommies just like you! :)
It's just b/c he's a boy. Boys are lazy. Hahaha. JUST KIDDING! All babies progress at their own pace. Just enjoy him being a baby. Like you said, what's the rush? He'll get there in his own time. He's probably just going to have a nice, laid back personality. Can't beat that! Of course, I'm sure he will get "busy" as little boys do. ;)
Well you'll get it figured out. You have a good motivation there with him watching you. That's great that he's getting to that fun age! I bet he keeps you on your toes.
Oh, my weekend SUCKED! Had a couple of 'those' kinda of days...This week is starting off better, hopefully thats a good sign :) How are things going for you?? Doing anything exciting??
Awe, your lil guy has good taste! Haha! I just spent the weekend w/ my bf for her son's 1st bday. Kids are so amazing! K, time for me to sketch out my PM to you. :)
Yes, yes, I'm back. September was a rough month for me -- overtrained (or should I say over-ran), lost the joy in everything and felt like I needed to step away from cyberland and get in touch with real life, haha. But I missed all the support I found around here and it's nice to be back :) I'll PM my meals to you...Made some minor recent moditifcations after some conversations w/ my friend, Jessica (Dr. Eupohoria).
Well I think you have to give yourself a little treat sometimes. I usually do one day a week. Sometimes I go overboard and then I regret it though and I'll go crazy with cardio trying to make up. Not good for building muscle! ;) My weekend was good. They just go so fast. How was your weekend? How's the little guy?
