When I Started:
Apr, 1998
How I Started:
i was very unhealthy... well... anorexic in high school. when i recovered, my time at the gym, and the people i met there were far more help to me than any therapist or family councelor. i learned a lot, made changes, and i've been addicted every since.
Why I Love It:
i'm absolutely fascinated by the human body and how we can manipulate it in a relatively short period of time. to me, it's live art.
How I Stay Motivated:
even the day to day accomplishments are so exciting. i mean from "another hour of cardio down!" to "added five pounds to my extensions!" or the ever famouse, "i survived this day without chocolate!" the daily successes are what makes the long term gains.
the gym is like a second home to me. i am more at ease there than pretty much anywhere else. it's like this: if i let my diet slip away, i've gotta face these people (accountability is good) but at the same time, most people are too concerned with themselves to notice someone else, so i also don't walk around trying to hide my head in shame... i do work very hard, but i am human...
BB Accomplishments:
third place in my first competition. this may sound silly but first and second place looked very good. i was proud to be on the same stage as these girls. i asked judges for tips for the future... perhaps with age and a little muscle maturity, i will do as they said and go back one day to clean up! (or at least i can keep it in my head as motivation!) my second two competitions i placed very well for the number of girls there, but i was pretty disapointed in myself. the competition place is irrelevent if the girls you compete against don't look that good. if they looked amazing and i got third place, then i'm proud... but it does tell me there's still work to be done.
Forum Signature:
it was the final week of my first competition that i understood the meaning of "meat head"!

How long do you rest between sets on average? Why?
45 seconds. long enough to recoupe not long enough to enough to slow down heart rate by TOO much, and keeps the workout cruising at a good pace so i'm not there ALL DAY!

How many reps per set do you usually do? Why?
i have seen that higher reps do decrease size/lower reps will hold more size. i know that changing it up will hypetrophy muscles, but if i stick to 15ish for lower body and 12ish for upper body i'm usually more pleased with the look i get. i have seen that higher reps do decrease size/lower reps will hold more size. i know that changing it up will hypetrophy muscles, but if i stick to 15ish for lower body and 12ish for upper body i'm u...more

What is your favorite cardiovascular exercise? Why?
eliptical. it doesn't make my joints hurt and i enjoy how i feel as opposed to the (bad) pain i get from running.
my dad gave jeremy and i a wonderful talk right after our wedding ceremony while we were doing pictures saying that the american wedding has three layers. while we mixed up the order of ours, haha, the layers are 1. wedding ceremony to share with witness of friends and family. 2....
monday: 60 minutes cardio; abs and shoulders
tuesday: 60 minutes cardio; legs and bum (sometimes i also do yoga on this day.)
wednesday: 60 minutes cardio; chest and triceps (usually add some abs)
thursday: 60 minutes cardio; back and biceps; abdutors/adductors or a bum exercise for good...
okay. . .so i haven't been on here in like forever! i'm guessing you've had your wedding! how did everything go? i'm sure you looked spectacular in your dress! hopefully you'll put up some pics! i've been doing pretty good on this end. workouts have been great! eating? well. . .lets just say i'm working on it! i still have my days, but they don't go on for weeks. hehe:) are you still doing those pics?!
Wow, that is a HUGE accomplishment? Not one day off? Well if I don't hear from you...have a WONDERFUL wedding. I can't wait to see how BEAUTIFUL you will be...b/c you are already drop dead!
I was just thinking of you...it is ALMOST here! Are you excited, nervous?? Take a ton of pics for me...you can email them to me if you don't get any up on here. I am dying to see them. :)
Hi you. Just passing thru to check messages. I'm well and my babe is great. I've been working on my blogspot blog and haven't focus on training except yoga and treadmill. I hope alls well and tell your hubby Happy Father;s Day. :)
This girl is a handful, being such a busy body. My doctor said she had great muscle tone the second he pulled her out and that she was feisty...lol. He warned us...lol. Anyway, next time, I'll write you a pm...lol. I hope to talk to you soon.
It's just that with the c-section recovery and the fact that things went kind of wrong with how much I actually felt (ick), I couldn't move well enough to get out of bed to get down to the nursery to look at her. :-( My husband spent most of his time down there though, so she wasn't alone. Okay..I'm crying all over again.. :-( lol. k...I'll stop talking about that. About him being lazy, you can almost be thankful for that.
My mom said she had to nurse me every 30-45 minutes, and I had colic for the first 6 months...eek! Ali did have really high bilirubin, was bad jaundiced, and had lost almost 10% of her body weight by discharge, so they almost kept her. She had fluid in her lungs and had to be on an IV and oxygen for the first day...so I didn't get to see her for her first entire day in this crazy world. :-( It still hurts...feeling like I wasn't there for her....
She's been sleeping through the night for a while, so I don't have to worry about that...lol. As for her weight, she's been in the 25% since she was born so far. She has her 4 month appt. in less than 2 weeks, so we shall see then. I never knew that could affect them sleeping through the night, since she's been doing it just fine. I'm blessed for sure.
wow!!! she's been an angel. She had reflux, so she's still on liquid zantac for that. She's also had trouble pooping, so we have to give her juice...which I hate, because she's still breastfed or takes breast milk by bottle while I'm at work or in class. Even pumping 3 times a day at work, nursing in the mornings and evening, my milk is starting to dry up to the point where I almost can't nurse her in the evenings.
You are welcome! I didn't see that episode! I must have been deployed when that one aired! I did see one where she was in a little sports bra thing doing cardio with one of her girls... very hot and Motivational!
DAMN!!! look at those abs in your new pic..maybe you should have went with a 2 peice dress ;-) How are you doing?? are you all ready to go?? I'm feeling good, back in the gym and eating clean...feel like myself again!
