Primary Gym:
College:
High School:
When I Started:
Apr, 1998
How I Started:
i was very unhealthy... well... anorexic in high school. when i recovered, my time at the gym, and the people i met there were far more help to me than any therapist or family councelor. i learned a lot, made changes, and i've been addicted every since.
Why I Love It:
i'm absolutely fascinated by the human body and how we can manipulate it in a relatively short period of time. to me, it's live art.
How I Stay Motivated:
even the day to day accomplishments are so exciting. i mean from "another hour of cardio down!" to "added five pounds to my extensions!" or the ever famouse, "i survived this day without chocolate!" the daily successes are what makes the long term gains.
the gym is like a second home to me. i am more at ease there than pretty much anywhere else. it's like this: if i let my diet slip away, i've gotta face these people (accountability is good) but at the same time, most people are too concerned with themselves to notice someone else, so i also don't walk around trying to hide my head in shame... i do work very hard, but i am human...
BB Accomplishments:
third place in my first competition. this may sound silly but first and second place looked very good. i was proud to be on the same stage as these girls. i asked judges for tips for the future... perhaps with age and a little muscle maturity, i will do as they said and go back one day to clean up! (or at least i can keep it in my head as motivation!) my second two competitions i placed very well for the number of girls there, but i was pretty disapointed in myself. the competition place is irrelevent if the girls you compete against don't look that good. if they looked amazing and i got third place, then i'm proud... but it does tell me there's still work to be done.

it was the final week of my first competition that i understood the meaning of "meat head"!

Where do you mainly workout?
Gym
Why? What are the pros and cons of working out there?
at home, the kitchen is near by. sometimes i feel like i'm slacking because i may be a little hungry and i'll actually get off the elptical and go eat!!! if i am at the gym i am there and have the time blocked out to do it so i figure make the best of it and have no excuses. at home i am easily distracted.at home, the kitchen is near by. sometimes i feel like i'm slacking because i may be a little hungry and i'll actually get off the elptical and go eat!!! if i am at the gym i am there and have the ti...more

What should look for in a gym? What should you avoid?
i look for a place that i am comfortable and motivated by. if it is too dingy, i may not be motivated by it. if it is too flashy i may be overwhelmed and feel insecure. too dark and i'm tired. too bright and i may not be in the mood to deal with it... i find most are the same at 5am though! i personlly do enjoy the les mills classes so i am happy if a gym has them, but other than that am not a class lover, so unless it's les mills i could do without. i am not a swimmer so i don't care about a pool. i like long hours (preferably 24 hours.. never know when you'll need it!) and close enough to get to in bad weather!i look for a place that i am comfortable and motivated by. if it is too dingy, i may not be motivated by it. if it is too flashy i may be overwhelmed and feel insecure. too dark and i'm tired. too...more
so i go to nutritiondata.com and put in my info. says my maintenance is about 1900-2100 (depending on exercise options... i always put a few to see where it averages out to so that i know what to eat on longer workout days vs. easier days...) this means diet calories for me are like 1400-...
every few weeks i try a different split or plan, but i always end up comming back to this. (or something VERY close to this)
MONDAY: chest, triceps, shoulders; 20 minutes hiit, 40 minutes miss cardio
TUESDAY: lower body; 60 minutes miss cardio (yoga if i have time but mostly just when i feel...
how many calories do I eat? at the moment around 1,800 to 2,100 or more. I am trying to gain weight actually, well muscle and some weight. I probably burn around 800-1,000 calories working out. does that answer your question?
Ha!!--What makes you think I am in a halloween costume??--ha.... actually was a posing routine for my last contest titled "You should be a model":). Wow, you have such a great story and awesome physique.. congrats on progress and outlook on life--love it!!
wow I admire you so much, being a mother and working out like that! of course you feel different, its a huge change physically and mentally. you need to rebuild your physical reserves now and try to get enough sleep so your body can rebuild and get STRONG!! Let me know if I can help in any way xoxoxo
Aww, well we don't need you "hulking" up on sugar hun. I always try and get the baked chips cause I can never eat just one chip lol. I hate oatmeal :(, but I do eat a lot of honeynut Cheerios :). I agree, sweets are hard to not crave, but you can do it cause you're a strong lady! I'm glad to hear that he's doing better. I think he wants you to hold him cause he feels safe with you.
I did see his pics...he is a spitting image of his mother...gorgeous...so congrats to you and your family. GOD BLESS you all. Enjoy him, it's going to get fun!
Hehe, Hershey kisses huh? That's ok, I did it with cookies 2 years ago. It shot my cholesterol sky high. So, since then I've been good of what I've been eating. Now that it's getting colder out I'll need to start eating a lot better since I don't go out in the winter time. Yeah, fruit and veggies are a great way to battle calories. How is your little boy doing?
Well that's awesome!!! It's rewarding you get what you put in just like in anything else you do in life! You have a little you in this world makes it 10x's more worth living life!!!
I do the Special K diet with like Fridays being my cheat day so I don't mess up on the weekends. For snacks I have either fruits or veggies. What is your meal plan like?
Have you figured out how many cals you need if you're not nursing?? Its probably just trial and error again :( Oh, yeah...What was the name of the book you were telling me about?? I think I NEED it right now!
Honestly, I've only had a few days where my macros were perfect and I feel great on them....but I've also been having a few too many cheats which has been making me feel like $hit. I had a rough day yesterday, so today is a new start...I'm hoping to drop the few lbs I put on by thanksgiving, which if I can keep it clean, it should just fall off.
