Overall Goal: I am 38 years old and have a goal of competing in my first Body Building competition by 2011 (Heartland Classic) and take home a trophy!!!
Fit Status:
I just made it back to the gym today following an umbillical hernia repair. I have catching up to do!
I have worked out for many years, but decided it was time to get serious with my program. I wanted to set goals that would help me to gain lean mass with hopes to compete and do well in a bodybuilding competition someday. My father passed away in August of 2004 from heart disease, so I have dedicated my work in bodybuilding to him. I have a long ways to go as this is my third year training for this goal.
Why I Love It:
I love bodybuilding because it is like a form of art. The personal dedication it takes to achieve greatness is something I desire. Understanding bodybuilding is very complex and I enjoying the challange, as I keep edging closer to my goal. Also as a personal trainer, I love helping others find the inner strength and knowledge to be successful as well. I like to think of myself as a student and a teacher at the same time. Everyday I constantly learn something new from someone, as I play role of the "STUDENT", and everyday I like to think I can pass on something to one of my clients as a "TEACHER", which can benifit them for the rest of their lives.
How I Stay Motivated:
I think of my father, and think of all the things his values have taught me throughout my lifetime. I want to accomplish something that would have made him very proud. I use short term goals to measure my positive success, which in turn increases my motivation. Things are going well to this point. My strength is coming along alot more since I shifted to a new program, and I am putting on good size. The scale is shifting up with the new mass, so I must be doing something right.
BB Accomplishments:
None. I have not competed in any events to this day. This is my third year training for bodybuilding. I have raised my body weight from 195 to 220 where I am at today. As far as my bodyfat percentage, it has dropped from 23% down to 16%, even with the added weight. I plan on going to watch my first show in may of 2009, with a goal of competing in my first show the following year in 2010...The Heartland Classic in Omaha, Nebraska.

Goal (Long):
Since my father passed away of Heart Disease in 2004, I have had a major goal of doing something special in changing my overall health and fitness level. I have always enjoyed lifting weights since my high school days. I recieved my certification as a personal trainer a short time after he passed away. With my knowledge I have gained as a trainer, I want to help as many people as possible to understand proper nutrition and exercise. For myself I would like to compete in a bodybuilding competition in the near future with outstanding gains. I want to loose about 8 to 10% bodyfat from where I am now which would put me around 6%. As far as overall bodyweight I would like to weith around 235 to 240 at my current height of 5'9" tall. I would like to define my abdominal core into my firstever "SIX PACK". I will not quit until I reach my goal for my father, and maybe then I decide I can reach higher.
Weight Goal:
I want to GAIN 20 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
6%
Upcoming Contest:

Well, today was day number one back to the gym following my hernia repair. I know it set me back alot, so I know I need to bust my butt. I was cleared to go back 2 weeks ago, but I dont wanna have another set back, so I figure I needed another couple weeks to mentally tell myself I was...
It is designed to give maximum overload training to your muscles through doing heavy compound lifting exercises. Meaning on any exercise you are working multiple muscles. The program focuses on heavy sets, approximately 6 to 9 sets per bodypart. ...
Good to hear your back in the gym. Training took a back seat again. The flu's going around the house, and since I train here, I couldn't have the trainer exposed. Should be done disenfecting the house tomorrow and then off I go again...
How's the post surgery workouts going?
i thought i've seen you on weekends; i've been working out there two years, but maybe i'm just thinking of someone else? a lot of guys there are big and have tats. i really just keep my myself and try and focus on my workouts, and not dropping weights on my toes as i am a little clumsy. i am at four weeks for healing, and so i anticipate this weekend going back. will have to keep my weight at 1/2 for now until i acclimate. how are your workouts going?
usually 1600 during the week, and 9:30 weekends. good thing you got your hernia repaired, a strangulation or a perforation and you could have gone septic...very bad for ze body! i miss training, can't wait to start back next month consistently. every thing should be healed enough by then.
I am the promoter of the Heartland Classic and Natural Nebraska. How are you making out with your goals?
BTW - I remember you from Gold's. We talked on a few occasions.
stick to the same routine for 8 to 10 weeks, then when u come back from your recovery week ... change it
dont change ur routine just for the sake of change. as per jeff willet
i dont squat because i dont wanna increase glute size. i got big glutes already. i stick to leg press and leg ext. for thigh size. i have been trainnig this was for 3 years now. i move weight i never thought i could. i have more density and muscle because of it. did u catch the jeff willet vid. on my page, check it out!
I actually do the same exercises and same routine .. i just aim to increase the intensity and overload of the movements. Max-Ot is the right way to lift.
Max-Ot .. is the best way to train for muscle gains period. 'specially for the natural lifter and all lifters for that matter. i follow the principles on all my workouts
Last year was my 1st year competing so I learned alot about my body. I started dieting 14 weeks out for my 1st contest. I had no real clue as to what I was doing and lost a lot of muscle along with the weight. You should gradually cut your calories and give yourself about 12-16 weeks depending on your current body composition.
Oh, that would be awesome - keep me posted! I am sure you look great already! I am just so happy for you. Hope you drop by often to give me a countdown, lol!
I never tire of hearing it! Thank you so much - I am in the last two weeks of school - finals time - the workouts are keeping me sane! And you, how are things going?
I know..I read your profile. My dad died of heart complications when I was 17...he was a Navy Pilot. So, living healthy has always been a priority with me.
