When I was 18, the heaviest I was (I believe) was 164. In two-three months, I dropped 30+ pounds by exercising like a crazy woman (cardio only, no lifting), and consuming less than 900 calories/day. I think the lowest weight I was at was around 128. A year later, I slowly began gaining weight, but the real weight gain started when I was about 25 I suppose. I'm now at about 150, and I'm sick and tired of feeling like crap about myself, and I want to get back down to that 128 mark--but this time, I'm also going to try to tone up! :) I start training tomorrow (August 31).
I know, not a huge deal, but kind of disappointing after seeing the scale continue to go down for six weeks or so. I only have five-six pounds left, dammit! ;) I haven't changed anything in my diet, but I still haven't done any weights for two weeks. I'm still unsure what the issue is with...
Ditto w/ Jumper. I just took up spin class 3 wks ago & LOVE IT. Can't believe I was missing such great workouts.
You mentioned you haven't lifted in a couple years. Now I love the soreness, since it shows I worked hard. But you might want to dial back on the throttle some for the next 1-2 workouts to let your body adapt to being pushed with resistance training. After that......go hard, heavy & intense! GOOD LUCK. :D
