When I Started:
Apr, 2003
How I Started:
I got out of a relationship and was depressed. I'd gained 60 lbs. during this relationship and decided it was time to change and get my mind on something else.
Why I Love It:
It helps me feel better mentally and physically. It helps me feel more confident and strong.
How I Stay Motivated:
Working out isn't tough for me because I love it so much. I'd live at the gym if I could! I DO, however, get bored with cardio machines, so I teach and take aerobic classes. I weight train in both classes and on my own, depending on if I need change...
BB Accomplishments:
I have never achieved the body of a bodybuilder, but I have gained a large amount of muscle vs. what I used to have, or NOT have, rather, in the past.
About 205 lbs.
I wasn't working out (just a jog here and there)and was eating whatever I wanted in large amounts. I was in a rocky relationship and gained about 60 lbs. in it.I wanted to change, but lacked the discipline.
139-140 lbs.
I've lost about 5 lbs.but my legs look bigger in this pic. I think it's just the pose. Everything is fitting looser and I feel better :)
I want to eat right consistently to reach my goals!
Goal (Long):
I don't have a problem with working out, but my diet needs a huge overhaul. I do pretty well on the weekdays, but once the weekend comes around, I'm like a vaccuum. I eat everything in sight! I'd like to overcome this obstacle b/c I know it's the only thing preventing me from reaching my goals. What's the use of working out so hard when I am going to sabotage all of my efforts on the weekend. It needs to stop!
What mistakes did you make when you first started working out?
Bad form and no variation. I swear I lifted weights at the same weight for a year with the same routine and stopped seeing results despite my strict diet. I never changed up my workouts and you all know that is important!Bad form and no variation. What is the one tip you would give somebody who is just getting started?
First of all, pick a goal - do you want to LOSE weight and be thin, gain muscle? Go into the gym knowing your goal and with a plan so you won't be wasting your time. Research, research, research! Look at the articles on Bodybuilding.com. Ladies, read Oxygen, guys, read Men's Health & Fitness or other health and fitness magazines out there. My bookshelf is loaded with health and fitness magazines, nutrition, and weightlifting books. Focus on form! You won't get the best out of your workout if you don't focus. Change up your routine from time to time to bust through the monotony and boredom. Most importantly, PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR DIET OR YOU WON'T SEE RESULTS. Yeah, it's THAT important. i haven't posted in a while due to the fact that so much was going on. i can't believe 2 months has flown by that quickly! geez. i can admittingly say that i kinda feel off the bandwagon for a bit, but only as far as my eating is concerned. i did, however, turn it up with the working out and...
Im doing great. I'm stuck in Katy on business though. I have been wanting to match the face with your pictures. I'm glad I did, but your pics do no justice. You look way better in person. I would have never been able to tell you put on weight. You probably just said that to be humble LOL. Anyway hope to see you around, I would love to have a conversation with you sometime.
Hey April your looking great. I was working out yesterday Dec 27 at Golds and I believe I saw you. Im not sure though, it was a beautiful woman getting out of one of the classes at about 3:30p.m. or so. Anyway your looking awesome and hope you continue towards those goals.
Hey April thanks for accepting, hope all is well, u look amazing, ur hard works paid off, hope u keep reaching ur goals, have a fun weekend, happy training :O)
We all have some work to do. You have been working hard it sounds like. Maybe you will find me in one of your classes one evening. I can see what you are talking about.
Yeah thats because Im usually there in the early morning about 6:00. Its right before work and I can have all the weights to myself. Anyhow I saw your profile and can tell you are doing an excellent job on your goals. You look great and hope to see you around the gym.
