Background

When I Started: Apr 2007
HOW I STARTED:

I was in my early 20's, overweight and sick of looking/feeling like crap. Didn't like what I had become and vowed to do whatever it takes to turn things around. I started working out, doing mainly cardio about 2-3 days a week sometime in 2005, but it wasn't until April 2007 where I got serious and started going to the gym 4-5 days a week. That's also when I slowly started to incorporate weights into my workouts, hit my goal weight of 130 lbs in August 2007, and by February 2008 I was completely hooked on training, lifting 4-5 days a week. In June 2008 I also started pole dancing for fitness. It's fun, sexy & definitely not as easy as some may think. In October 2009 I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, I had 2 surgeries followed by radiation in February 2010. In April 2010 I was deemed completely cancer free. I will continue training and living life to the fullest. You only have one body & one life, I want to be the best that I can be & enjoy every minute of everyday.

WHY I LOVE IT:

With every rep I feel like I am bettering myself. Also, it's a great way to vent! Anytime I'm having a crappy day, I hit the gym hard, walk out of there feeling much better, works every time!

The Post-Keto & Post-Holiday Update!

Ahhh, it's been quite some time since I blogged on here... time for an update! So the Holidays are finally over! I make it sound like they're a bad thing, well they're not totally bad, but not totally good either. The "Holiday Get Together's" can really sabotage your diet as they are usually accompanied by a lot of food and alcohol. And yes I confess, I did indulge a little, I gained some fat back but I'm really not too concerned. This was definitely not an easy diet. The first week was absolutely brutal, my energy levels were non existent and training, for once, felt like a chore, which is not usually the case because I love it. Second week was a lot better and the third, and thereafter, was just routine. The first few weeks you really tend to count the days until your next carb-up but after 4-5 weeks it's more like "oh shit it's already carb-up day?" Holy smokes it's Week 9! Honestly at this point Keto is just part of my routine, I woke up this morning, ate my lardtastic breakfast and it wasn't until later that I realized I get to have my precious carbs later on today! Anyway, things have been going pretty good. Everything is on track, I feel great and I'm still making progress so no complains there. Except for... haha, time for a confession!
