I was skinny-fat... then just fat...so I took up kickboxing with a girlfriend of mine.
I had been cardio kickboxing 5 nights a week for about a year and dropped a lot of the extra weight but wasn't totally satisfied... seemed like I kept losing weight but not gaining any real strength or toned shape. Skinny-fat!!! Starting in April 2009 I joined 24 hour fitness (my first gym membership) and started to learn weights and about the world of bodybuilding. I am just learning but love it already! Totally addicted!!!
Why I Love It:
It is awesome to be able to push your body to be better. Feel and see results. And to look forward to reaching new goals.
How I Stay Motivated:
Proving to myself that I can do it - looking at my pictures and seeing progress.
I love to browse this site and read up on lots of articles, etc too.
Learning new things!!!!

except for me I accomplish goals every week - try to anyways - lots of small goals I think lead you into a big goal at the end!
A big sloppy lazy fat mess! I was encouraged by a friend to start cardio kickboxing several times a week then after a month I entered into a UBC (ultimate body challenge) 10 week program which was the kickboxing plus resistance bands training every other day.
I am 158 lbs. here.
