How I Started:
Back (behind corner of right shoulder blade, going up to my neck) started hurting bad back by end Nov -04 & did for 3 mos. Finally sought help as nothing I did helped & was told this apparently was work (computer) related. As I've always been thin going on stringy, esp on the upper body, I was among other things rec to start working out to strenghten my back in order to prevent the pain from coming back, after it was fixed through a series of acupuncture sessions. Did ever since and only had 2 minor relapses so far.
Why I Love It:
I feel and look better in several ways and it is and feels good for me. Am not getting any younger either and I think I have a good basis to start w/ (hardly any fat) so I enjoy seeing what I can do/ where I can get w/ this.
How I Stay Motivated:
Think about the effort I already put into this and also the benefits, both re: my back & my overall health/ looks/ "mental state".
I've wanted to do this for MANY yrs and so now that I finally got into it am not going to let it go. To compare w/ my current exercise, I've only done aerobics for abt 6mos like almost 15yrs ago and later weight lifting for abt 3mos around 10yrs ago... I never exercised as a kid although I ran in stairs quite a bit (still do!) and cycled a lot until I was around 20 or so. Hence, this is quite a change for me - for the better I think.
BB Accomplishments:
Does getting up at 5-something AM twice/ week to go to the gym before work count...?

Add yet 3mos, not as much more meat as I'd have liked but going in the right direction I guess... or not, I really dunno anymore. UGHHHH.

Goal (Long):
Naturally thin, even stringy, and need to strengthen back (got issues from too much comp work) - why not see what I can achieve overall as well... I think I have a good base to build from? Too, am not getting younger and it's good for me & makes me feel good & better about myself in several ways.

Jun 23 -07: Split routine into 3 blocks (instead of overall body workouts).
Aug 05 -07: Lowered amt of reps & augment weights overall in aim to build more muscle faster.
Both gave results.
I really beleave on what i say cos i am the hard gainer kind and i am sure its the right way to get quality results, i have been on this for 16 years now going slow but sure ( damn i feel old saing that ) LoL
Routine needs work, drop your rep ranges down 8-12 and split your workouts better. You're doing too much volume, impossible to recover in time, you should go heavy and shouldnt be able to do that many reps. You're as lean as you're gonna get while looking healthy, its not bodyfat you need to drop. Just need size, you look good though, definately. keep it up!
