I have been seeing a nutritionist along with my husband for many years but I did not really follow the plan, I did however learn to make better bad choices. We are a couple who loved going out to eat and having one or two yummy cocktails. Well...all those nice dinners and fruity drinks added up and one day I decided to change all of my habits. For the longest time I kept reading success stories like Kelsey's and many more amazing women out there and decided "That's it"!!! I am tired of only reading and thinking maybe some day... So for my new year's resolution for 2012 I decided I was going to compete for my first bikini fitness show. I signed up, paid my fees and did everything I could do to commit myself to going. Then the next big step was to go back to see my nutritionist and follow the competition diet plan. I will admit, it was HARD but I committed and dealt with the cravings and every other yummy thought of food that would come up in my head. It's like I quit all my old habits cold turkey. I had peanut butter, chocolate, and fried food withdrawals but kept my eyes on the goal. I kept looking at fitness models pictures to motivate me and keep me on track.
We stopped going out to eat as soon as I started to eat clean and got in the habit of cooking all of my meals for the week. I learned preparation is key. I realized I ate the worst when I didn't have meals prepared and got hungry. I gave up drinking completely, nothing but only water with some crystal light or Mio for variety ;) I cut out all processed foods, replaced oils with cooking sprays, fried for bake and started to steam all of my veggies.
Then the next big thing, working out. I tried to work out by myself the first week and realized I was only 8 weeks away from the competition and needed to really be pushed so I hired a trainer and she kicked my butt!! She did not only show me how to work out but also focused on posture. Between clean eating and weight training I went from 21% bf to 9% bf in 68 days!
