For years I was a classical ballet dancer and a serious bodyboard surfer. I did some weightlifting in college (Exercise Science- it was a core class I had to take) but I wasn't passionate about it. After 2 kids and grad school, I gained some fat and had to do something! I began researching about the best way to burn fat and keep fit and started my program of heavy weights and H.I.I.T. The fat melted like butter. I went from a 34% body fat to a 21% in 6 months. All of that eating 2000 clean and healthy calories/day, lifting 5 days/week and doing cardio 2x a week. I felt great, plus after a while, I could eat whatever I wanted and maintain a great body. That was enough to get me hooked!
I love feeling the power of lifting as heavy as I can handle and the endorphins rushing into my bloodstream when I am done. I take pride on being strong and not depending on guys to help me carry heavy stuff. Oh boy! I could go on forever answering this question! Let's see...the increased stamina, the beautifully toned muscles, the healthy glow on my skin...plus, I love that my teen-aged son says I am the hottest/strongest mom in all his school!! hahahaha!I am not sure I agree, but I still enjoy the kick of hearing him say it so proudly.
