Growing up I was always the skinny kid, and what many would consider a geek. One day when I was introduced to a container of whey protein, I began to look for further change in my life. I was intrigued, and thought this could potentially help me push my prior lack of progress forward. It was because I had not been informed at all on proper nutrition: I ate whatever I wanted (more specifically: I under ate and expected results from lifting weights). Thus, as I gained more knowledge through endless reading, I instantly knew that bodybuilding was for me. I majored in Electrical Engineering, and bodybuilding became a great escape from the math, electromagnetics, circuitry, etc. It had given my life a much needed balance. I had caught the bodybuilding bug, and from then on have not looked back (drug-free/natural bodybuilding).
Number one, it allows me to inspire others. The ability to touch the lives of friends/family/strangers gives me the greatest satisfaction. Next, bodybuilding not only has helped maximize my physique, but it has more importantly influenced all other sectors of my life in a positive manner (outside of the fitness industry). I believe bodybuilding to be the best ice breaker when meeting people from all walks of life. Once I began working as an Electrical Engineer in the Power industry, my bodybuilding
was always the topic of conversation. Whether I was in meetings with other Engineers to discuss design work, or in the field with
construction workers, everyone wanted to talk about muscles. Many times I would receive calls from other Engineering Firms, and instead of discussing electrical designs, I would first be asked "how do I get my biceps larger?" haha. Additionally, once I later co-founded my hi-tech start-up company, bodybuilding was again the ice breaker with the many individuals who I interacted with (from the tech to the business side). It was an instant connection with the old, the young, males, females, etc. I definitely know bodybuilding has helped my entrepreneurial venture; as all of the built characteristics intertwine with all aspects of life. All in all, the confidence, opportunities, instant respect, which you gain through bodybuilding/fitness, are priceless. It is something you will always have with you; it is not like a one-hundred and fifty-thousand dollar ($150,000.00) car that you park and walk away from. For some
people, egos are fed and nurtured through materialistic possessions, status and money. While others use their character to help inspire others, to bring change to the world through their actions, and do not need to live a lie. Furthermore, I truly believe when you combine a body with a powerful mind, you will become a force to be reckoned with in all facets of life.
