I started working hard on cardio because I was unhappy with my weight. I was up to 230lbs and had a wedding in 2.5 months away. I started eating much, much better and working hard on cardio. I never touched the weights as I was stupid at the time. I ended up getting down to 190lbs. Life happend and I quit going. A few years later I had slipped up to 215 again. I decided that this would not happen and I started hitting the cardio again. Because of some medical problems, and working HARD I got down to 185lbs, my high school weight. Then I thought I was looking to skinny and started hitting the weights. Since then, about 10 months ago, I have done mostly weights off and on. For the past 6 months I have been hitting the gym 2-6 times a week doing mostly weights.
UPDATE AS OF 1/25:
Well I ended up taking about 4 months off. Now I have been back at it about 4 months again, and am training for a 4 mile race in early Febuary, and a 10K at the end of Febuary. In addition to that I have done a long bulk and added some good mass. I am now looking to lose some of the fat I put on during this 2+ month bulk. I am very detailed in my workouts and have 3 types of workouts in my arsenal, power lifting, crossfit (HIIT, or circuit training, whatever you want to call it) and distance running (up to 8 miles per run).
