My relationship with food hasn't always been a positive one. I've always been relatively fit- I cheered and did gymnastics growing up and added track to the mix in high school. Throughout college, I continued my passion for running and joined the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC). Both these activities kept me in shape through college. I've never been overweight and I've never not been active- but I've always had a tough time properly nourishing my body. I quit smoking in June 2012 and in September 2012 got involved in Team Beachbody- using Shakeology, Insanity and most recently, Turbo Fire. One of my best friends from high school started a fitness blog and gains followers every day. I began paying attention to the people who follow her and noticed how much I could identify with so many of them, my friend included. I live a wonderful, blessed, amazing life, but a big part of me has always been unhappy with myself and my physique and the abuse I've done to my body over the years from improper nutrition. I can't keep living this way. It's time to change. With the help of friends and family (both military and non-military) I'm looking to compete in the upcoming 2013 Guam Bodybuilding competition. It's not that I lack dedication and drive- it's that I lack direction and I've refrained from simply just asking for help and support from others. This is a journey that I am excited about- it's my passion. Thanks to all of you who are helping, coaching, training, assisting and cheering me on along the way. None of this is possible without you. Best of luck to all of you out there reaching for and chasing after your health and fitness goals. Cheers... To our health!
I can't predict what my future looks like, but I know that I am passionate about several things: family, friends, fitness, cooking, writing, traveling, photography, meeting people and telling their stories, and motivating and inspiring people everywhere I go. How do you put that all together to be a positive influence in today's world? I love bodybuilding and working out because it makes me feel good about myself, and when I feel good about myself- I am a happy, positive, motivating and inspiring force to others. That is my calling in this lifetime- to help others. And I hope by being an example of a sound mind, body and soul, I can help others achieve their wildest dreams. What are your health and fitness goals? Let's go get 'em!
