I've been doing serious body building and working out since the summer after my sophomore year. I started dating a guy that did wrestling, and as he taught me things, I really started to love the sport, so he trained me the whole summer to get ready for the school team when school started again. The coach didnt like the Idea of me being on the team as the only girl, so she suggested I do weightlifting instead until the following year when my bf graduated and wasnt on the team. Well, I loved the sport so much, I never went to wrestling the next year, and worked my way up in the girls weightlifting team. I still miss the smell of sweat and rubber in the football weight-room under the stadium :)
I love the rush, the smell of the rubber flooring, the sense of accomplishment once you hit a max you have been trying to reach for a while. The praise by your coaches is nice, but looking in the mirror and seeing yourself dripping with sweat and callouses on your palms is praise enough. The relaxed atmosphere and that swollen feeling your muscles have after a good workout and you can finally shower off and chat with others about your workout in the gyms cafe. But, I especially love the sound of barbells stacked with heavy wights being dropped to the ground once power-cleaned and the sense of community with others around you.
